Wall beds for your home in Ivybridge
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the design visit, and we’ll plan the fitting around them.
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We cannot give advice on leases, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
About our wall beds in Ivybridge
We fit wall beds in Ivybridge and across London. It starts with a design visit to measure the room and check the wall, followed by a quote. The cabinets are made at our workshop and fitted in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on the design and how much storage goes around the bed, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote, so you will know beforehand. We make wall beds from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are a hobby room with a bed for guests and shelves or a desk around the bed.
A good part of the housing around Ivybridge is interwar, semi-detached or detached. Many 1930s houses have a small box room over the stairs, often with a raised bulkhead in the floor, and the bulkhead is built around rather than ignored. The main bedroom may have a bay at the front and a chimney breast on the side wall.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Ivybridge homes and wall beds
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Ivybridge were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 42%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 24%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. 8 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Ivybridge. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings. Each London borough runs its own parking controls, and Hounslow is no exception. If your road in Ivybridge falls in a zone, the van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It is useful to let us know about parking during the design visit.
If you live near Inwood Park, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they will not shade the window. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Church of All Hallows, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. For a family home near Chase Bridge Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.

Pricing wall beds in Ivybridge
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:
- The width and height of the space
- Parking near your home
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- How many doors and drawers there are
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.
Helping us understand the room
Ahead of the design visit, we will typically ask about:
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
To get a quote, use our contact form and tell us a little about the room and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Questions from Ivybridge
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Twickenham station?
Yes, homes across Hounslow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Ivybridge?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Can you fit a wall bed to a stud wall?
We check that during the design visit. Different walls need different fixings, and the mechanism maker sets out what’s required.
What does a wall bed cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. A single bed cabinet and a full wall with shelves and a desk are very different jobs, so we quote once we have seen the room. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
It’s something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture, which helps avoid condensation and mould. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
What happens on fitting day
Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, which keeps the lines straight. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. A front path or side gate can make the carry from the van simpler. Gates, paths and steps up to the door are part of the route we measure. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in.
- You contact us about a wall bed for a spare room or studio.
- At the design visit we plan the bed cabinet and check the stairs, landings and any lift. Mention parking as well, since vans often need a permit or a paid bay.
- We send a written quote.
- The cabinet is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route.
- We carry the sections in, assemble them and fix the mechanism as its maker specifies, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before we arrive
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
