Loft storage for your home in Lambeth
Lambeth homes and loft storage
In the neighbourhood around Lambeth, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 36%) and before 1919 (about 21%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Lambeth include Woodstock Court (Grade II*), less than half a mile east, and Church of St Peter (Grade II*), under half a mile south. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling may need listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. About 36% of homes around Lambeth were built since 2000, well above the figure for the rest of London as a whole, about 17%, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That makes plasterboard stud walls and compact rooms more likely, which shapes the fixings and sizes.
If you live in a period home close to St Peter's Church, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. If your children go to Vauxhall Primary School or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home.
Lambeth is in the London Borough of Lambeth, about 2 miles south of Stockwell. Anywhere in Lambeth, it works the same way: we visit and measure, send a quote in writing, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. We cover places right across the rest of London, large and small.
Postcode districts we cover here for loft storage: SE11, SW1P and SW8. You’ll find streets here such as Gibson Road, Langley Lane and Randall Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for loft storage. Lambeth is near the A3203 and A3204, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you contact us. If you’re just outside Lambeth, we also cover Vauxhall (1 mile north), Kennington (1 mile south), Oval (1 mile south), Newington Butts (1 mile east) and St George's Fields (1 mile north-east). Elsewhere in the rest of London, we also cover Stockwell (2 miles south), Streatham (4 miles south), West Norwood (4 miles south), Clapham (2 miles south-west), Brixton (2 miles south) and Loughborough Junction (2 miles south-east).

Loft storage in Lambeth
Behind an eaves door, there’s often insulation and a need for ventilation. We design the storage so it does not block airflow or crush insulation. If anything looks wrong behind the eaves, it is worth asking whoever converted the loft. When we visit in Lambeth, we will see what’s there. We make eaves cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a loft room that still feels unfinished and boxes piled on loft boards.
A hall in a home built since 2000 is often compact, with several doors leading off it, which leaves little wall for storage. Around Lambeth, many homes were built since 2000, so that’s worth planning for. Even a shallow run can hold coats and shoes without crowding the doors.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Boards, parts and paint
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting on site lets the storage be finished alongside the woodwork around it. Marks can be touched in without much trouble. Like any new paint, it needs time to cure fully.
Doors and drawer fronts
An access door into the eaves can match the rest of the fronts. It opens wide, so you can still get into the eaves. The other fronts can be doors, drawers or both.
Questions we are often asked
I live in a flat in Lambeth. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Eaves cupboards are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Is Lambeth in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Do I get to choose the colour?
You do. We agree the colour with you, and it’s set out in the quote.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Is it possible to fit a wardrobe under the slope?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with hanging at the tall end and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the space. We plan it at the design visit.
How fitting day works
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so it’s useful to let us know at the measuring visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

Practical tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. These practical tips help:
- Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing
- Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both
- Choose a calm colour for the loft
- Clear the knee-wall spaces before the design visit if you can
Once the fitting is done, the storage is ready to use. New paintwork takes time to cure fully, so go easy on it to begin with. Keep tape and strong cleaners away from it while it settles.
Temperatures in a loft room can swing more than elsewhere. A little ventilation helps. That keeps the storage and the paint in good order.
Why people ask for loft storage in Lambeth
A boarded loft can be made far more useful with shelving. Storage in a boarded loft keeps everything organised. It is ideal for things you need now and then.
A few of the things people ask us to solve include:
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
- Boxes piled on loft boards
- Low eaves that nobody can use
- Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
Benjamin Franklin House, about 1.2 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even.
What to check before you book
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Whether they measure the room themselves
Flats, conversions and lettings
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it during the design visit.
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
