Upper Edmonton Loft Storage

Planning loft storage for a home in Upper Edmonton? We start with a design visit and a written quote.

  • A loft room with too many jobs
  • Boxes piled on loft boards
  • A converted loft with no fitted furniture

Need loft storage in Upper Edmonton?

What prompts loft storage in Upper Edmonton

Some people want to hide clutter in the eaves. Eaves cupboards keep them out of sight. The room stays calm and clear.

Here’s what loft storage can help with:

  • A converted loft with no fitted furniture
  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • Needing storage in a loft office
  • A boarded loft that is hard to keep organised

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Percy House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Before you choose who makes it

  • A quote in writing that sets out the job
  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?

About our loft storage in Upper Edmonton

Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. The conversion itself isn’t our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. In Upper Edmonton, it all begins with a design visit. If you’re living with a converted loft with no fitted furniture and a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe, eaves cupboards made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

Across London, neighbouring streets can be decades apart in age, so the tricky spaces vary too: a bay, the space under the stairs, a hallway recess or the eaves of a converted loft. Eaves cupboards are designed for the space you have. Meters, fuse boards and boilers keep the access they need.

We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, all taken from the design visit.

Common questions about loft storage

Do you cover homes near Silver Street station?

Yes. We cover all of Enfield and the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can you make loft storage for a home in Upper Edmonton?

Yes. Upper Edmonton is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Enfield and London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details.

Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?

There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Can you build a wardrobe under a sloping ceiling?

Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with hanging at the tall end and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the space. We’ll work out the layout when we visit.

Can you convert my loft as well?

No. Our work is storage in loft rooms that are already converted, or in boarded lofts. Loft conversions are building work, with Building Regulations to follow. When the room is finished, we can plan the storage.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.

What happens on fitting day

Getting everything level comes first. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift as well as the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.

  1. It starts when you get in touch with a few details about the loft.
  2. We visit to measure the eaves and slopes and discuss the design, including the headroom under the slope.
  3. We send a written quote setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. The cupboards and drawers are made at our workshop, in sections sized for the loft stairs.
  5. The storage is fitted in the loft and checked, door by door.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Empty the space we’ll be working in
  • Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Arranging a design visit

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a written quote. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To book a design visit, message us from the contact page.

Advice

When you need someone else

Some parts of a job need another trade, from an electrician to a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:

  • Adding or replacing insulation
  • Structural changes, like cutting into rafters or joists
  • New sockets, lights or wiring, which are for your electrician

Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can get in touch through our contact form and we will tell you. Our process from visit to fitting.

What goes into it

  • Hand-painted finish
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch plywood

Could you do it yourself?

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that are not square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.

Flats, conversions and lettings

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you contact us.

Upper Edmonton homes and loft storage

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 29% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Upper Edmonton, with about 26% built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Part of Upper Edmonton is in a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Your council can advise if you’re unsure. A quarter or more of the homes in the area around Upper Edmonton (about 29%) date from between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Loft conversions are common in houses of that age, and the eaves can take fitted storage.

For a family home near St John and St James CofE Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. For an older house near St Mary's Church, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle.
