Loft storage in Tottenham

About our loft storage in Tottenham

A dormer can take shelves, a desk or a window seat. Their sides are often angled, and their walls rarely straight. Each piece is scribed to the dormer. It adds storage without taking up the main floor. At the design visit in Tottenham, we will look at what fits. If you’re living with wasted space behind the knee walls and furniture that can’t get up to the loft, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Not every home has a loft conversion, a bay or a cupboard under the stairs, but most have a recess, a landing or a corner that could take storage. For a home in Tottenham, the design visit is where the options are worked out. The storage is made in our workshop and fitted in your home.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

What we don’t do

Not everything around loft storage is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:

  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
  • Electrical work in the loft
  • Converting the loft itself, which is not our work

Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll tell you. Our process from visit to fitting.

What goes into it

  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood

Practical tips

None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Make a list of what you want to store in the eaves
  • Note any vents or insulation in the eaves
  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing

When you load the drawers and cupboards, put heavy things low. It helps the runners and keeps the storage working well. Shelves are made for what you told us you’d store.

Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they don’t knock the paint. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.

Tottenham homes and loft storage

About 39% of the homes in the streets around Tottenham went up before 1919, and about 19% since 2000, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. 11 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Tottenham. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Haringey included. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Tottenham is covered by it. We plan parking and access with you during the design visit.

For a flat near Bruce Grove station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. The wider area includes historic houses such as Bruce Castle, about 0.3 miles west. For a period home anywhere nearby, eaves cupboards in a converted loft are scribed to slopes that are rarely even. Close to Bruce Castle Park? Eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

Tottenham is within the London Borough of Haringey. From period terraces to newer flats in Tottenham, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. We list Tottenham among 23 places we cover in Haringey.

Postcode districts we cover here for loft storage: N17, N15 and N18. We cover homes on streets like New Road, High Road and Reed Road, whether you want loft storage or another piece made for the room. Tottenham is near the A10, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you get in touch. Close by, we also work in Broadwater Farm (1 mile west), Tottenham Hale (1 mile south-east), Tottenham Green (1 mile south), South Tottenham (1 mile south) and Seven Sisters (1 mile south). Other parts of Haringey we cover include Wood Green (2 miles west), Crouch End (3 miles south-west), Turnpike Lane (2 miles west), Finsbury Park (3 miles south-west), Bowes Park (2 miles west) and Bounds Green (3 miles west). As one of the bigger places in Haringey, Tottenham is covered for loft storage and everything else we make.

Flats, leases and landlords

Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.

What happens on fitting day

On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections built in our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Clearing the room and the way in beforehand makes the day easier, including anything on the walls near the work. Floors and doorways are protected before anything comes in. Sections are then carried in and assembled.

  1. First we hear about the loft room and what you’d like to store.
  2. We measure the eaves, the slopes and the stairs up to the loft.
  3. The design is agreed and a written quote follows, with the finish set out.
  4. The storage is made in our workshop, in sections sized for the stairs. It’s made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away

Arranging a design visit

Rough measurements are fine at the start. We measure everything properly at the measuring visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, fill in our short enquiry form. You receive a written quote after the visit.

Advice

What affects the cost of loft storage

The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. That depends on:

  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • The width and height of the space
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Getting in touch

You do not need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:

  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • How you want to use the space
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them over, drop us a line using the contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Common questions about loft storage

Does a conservation area in or near Tottenham affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Do you make loft storage for homes in Tottenham?

Yes, Tottenham is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Haringey and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

Can you add sockets inside the units?

No. Electrical work is not something we do; it is a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.

Does eaves storage affect the insulation?

It shouldn’t, if it’s designed properly. The storage is planned around the insulation and ventilation behind the knee wall. For worries about existing insulation or vents, ask the people who did the conversion.

Do you do the loft conversion too?

No. Our work is storage in loft rooms that are already converted, or in boarded lofts. Loft conversions are building work, with Building Regulations to follow. Once your loft is converted, we can design the storage.

Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?

Every piece is made in sections that fit up the stairs. We measure the way up along with the room itself. That way, even a large wardrobe can reach the loft.
