Loft storage in Turnpike Lane, Haringey

- A loft room with too many jobs
- No wardrobe that fits under the slope
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
Loft storage designed for your room
What affects the price in Turnpike Lane
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.
Before the design visit
To help us picture the room, please include:
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Examples of the look you are after
- How you want to use the space
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we have measured up and talked through the design. For a quote, use our contact form.
How we make loft storage for Turnpike Lane
A loft room can hold a great deal of storage, if the low spaces are used well. Our loft storage includes eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers, wardrobes under sloping ceilings and dormer shelving, all made for the shape of the room. In Turnpike Lane, as everywhere we work, it begins with a visit to measure and plan. We make eaves cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a dormer that isn’t being used and a loft room with too many jobs.
Hallways in period terraces are often long and narrow, with the stairs rising along one wall. Around Turnpike Lane, a large share of homes date from before 1919, so every bit of depth is weighed up when storage is planned. Even shallow storage can hold a lot without narrowing the way through.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Standard furniture doesn’t allow for the insulation and ventilation behind the eaves. Bespoke storage is designed so it does not block ventilation or squash insulation. That is important for the health of the loft. Tall ceilings in older homes leave a band of empty wall above standard furniture, wasting space that could hold things you rarely use. Built-in pieces can run to the cornice or the picture rail.
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.

FAQs: loft storage in Turnpike Lane
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Turnpike Lane?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
My home in Turnpike Lane is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
Can a wardrobe follow a sloping ceiling?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with hanging at the tall end and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the space. We plan it at the measuring visit.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, but it is useful to be around at the end.
How is loft storage priced?
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. To get a quote, fill in our short enquiry form and we’ll arrange a design visit.

How fitting day works
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop. How long the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Older London houses often have narrow hallways and tight turns on the stairs, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route in. Floors and stair carpets are protected on the way in and out, and the sections are joined and scribed in the room.
- You contact us about storage in your converted loft.
- We visit to measure the loft and the way up, including the top flight and any tight turn.
- We send a written quote.
- Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections small enough for the loft stairs.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to fit. The finish is sprayed in the workshop or hand-painted in the loft.

- Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
- Any wiring, which needs an electrician

Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Turnpike Lane. Parking and access are planned at the measuring visit.

Before and after fitting day
These points come up often when people plan loft storage. They help before and after fitting:
- Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing
- Think about hanging space for a loft bedroom
- Consider drawers for the deep, low spaces
- Let us know about parking during the design visit
Keep the ventilation behind the eaves clear. The storage is planned to keep airflow, so leave that space open. It helps prevent damp behind the storage.
Loft rooms can be warm in summer and cool in winter. Keep the room ventilated. That keeps the storage and the paint in good order.
