What we don’t do

It’s worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Any wiring, which needs an electrician
  • Approval for structural changes
  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves

Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can use our contact form and we will tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What goes into it

  • Hand-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Spray-painted finish

Loft storage in Perry Vale

Behind an eaves door, there’s often insulation and a need for ventilation. We design the storage so it doesn’t block airflow or crush insulation. If anything looks wrong behind the eaves, it’s worth asking whoever converted the loft. We look at this at the measuring visit in Perry Vale. Most enquiries start with space under the eaves going to waste and a boarded loft with no proper shelving, and the answer is made at our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

A deep cupboard can lose things at the back, so the design uses drawers, lids or shelves to bring things within reach. Whatever kind of home you have in Perry Vale, the right answer depends on the depth and the height. Any meters, fuse board or boiler keep the access they need.

Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is built in our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

From workshop to your room

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it looks as though it was always there. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are assembled, scribed to the walls and levelled. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether brick, block, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You contact us about storage in your converted loft.
  2. We visit to measure the loft and the way up, including the top flight and any tight turn. Tell us about parking too, as a van often needs a permit or a paid bay.
  3. We send a written quote.
  4. Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections small enough for the loft stairs.
  5. The sections go up the stairs, are assembled under the eaves and set level. The finish is sprayed in the workshop or hand-painted in the loft.

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves

Getting a quote

If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.

What prompts loft storage in Perry Vale

The most common reason is wasted space. Behind the knee walls, there is space nobody can reach. Cupboards and drawers built into the knee wall put it to work.

Most of the enquiries we get are about needs like these:

  • Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
  • Standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs
  • A loft room with too many jobs
  • Boxes piled on loft boards

If you live near Mayow Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • How doors and drawers are fitted
  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote

Loft storage for homes in Perry Vale

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Perry Vale were built before 1919 (about 43%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 21%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. There are 8 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Perry Vale. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. About 30% of households in the area around Perry Vale live in terraced houses, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. Loft conversions are common in London terraces, leaving eaves and sloping ceilings to use; we build once the loft is converted or boarded.

The wider area includes historic houses like Kingswood House, about 1.7 miles west. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. If you live in a flat close to Forest Hill station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Pricing loft storage in Perry Vale

The price for your room depends on:

  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A larger piece means more material and more time. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

Getting in touch

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, message us from the contact page.

Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?

Loft walls are rarely straight, and floors are often out of level. Standard furniture leaves visible gaps. We scribe our storage to the slopes and walls, and set it level. A standard unit is the same in every home, whatever the room is like, whereas fitted pieces are designed for one room: yours. The finish is chosen to suit the space.

How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

FAQs: loft storage in Perry Vale

Does a conservation area in or near Perry Vale affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Perry Vale?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Can you add sockets inside the units?

No. Electrical work is not something we do; it’s a job for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.

Do you work outside London?

No. We cover London only: all 32 boroughs and the City of London.

Can you convert my loft as well?

No, we build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. A conversion is building work, and Building Regulations apply. When the room is finished, we can plan the storage.
