West End Loft Storage

For homes in West End, we make loft storage from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Each piece is finished by spray or by hand, in the colour you choose.

  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • A loft room that doubles as an office or guest room
  • A sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe

Loft storage for homes in West End

Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Planned together, they make the room feel ordered. For a home in West End, it is planned around your things. Most enquiries start with a dormer that isn’t being used and furniture that can’t get up to the loft; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.

Ceilings and floors in homes built before 1919 are rarely level, and a large share of homes around West End are that old. Each piece is scribed and levelled on site so it looks straight in a room that isn’t. Picture rails, skirting and cornices are worked around rather than removed, and the paint colour is agreed with you.

If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Looking after your furniture

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Here are our suggestions:

  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Look at the insulation and any vents behind the knee wall
  • Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both
  • Clear the knee-wall spaces before the design visit if you can

We open each door and run each drawer with you before we go. Any access to the eaves is checked so it still opens. You will know it all works as it should.

Temperatures in a loft room can swing more than elsewhere. A little ventilation helps. It helps the storage stay in good condition.

What loft storage can’t fix

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:

  • Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
  • Any wiring, which needs an electrician
  • Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves

Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can fill in our short enquiry form and we will tell you. How it works.

Questions we are often asked

How do you fit loft storage in a flat in West End?

At the design visit, we measure the way in along with the room itself. Eaves cupboards are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in West End?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?

It is something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so it sits tight to the room.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You do. The paint colour is agreed with you before anything is painted.

What materials do you use for loft storage?

Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Both are stable, which matters in a loft room. Your quote confirms the materials and finish.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

It is a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, then send a quote in writing.

Fitted storage in West End

About 49% of the homes in the area around West End went up before 1919, and about 21% since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. The National Heritage List has 934 entries within half a mile of the centre of West End. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. Where a home in West End is on or beside a main road, it’s useful to mention that at the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.

Living in a block of flats near Tottenham Court Road station? Then eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. If you live in a period home close to St Mary's Church, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. Close to St Anne's Churchyard? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

West End is within the London Borough of Camden, about 1 mile north-east of St Pancras. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, West End included. We cover places right across Camden, from the busiest high streets to quiet residential roads.

Design visits and fitting in W1F, W1D and W1T work the same way as everywhere else we cover. Our area takes in homes on streets such as Duck Lane, Drury Lane and Bridle Lane, along with the roads around them, whether you want loft storage or another piece made for the room. Main roads around West End include the A301 and A400, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. Close by, we also work in Seven Dials (1 mile east), St Giles (1 mile north-east), Soho (1 mile west), Chinatown (1 mile south-west) and Covent Garden (1 mile east). Elsewhere in Camden, we also cover Hampstead (4 miles north-west), West Hampstead (4 miles north-west), Agar Town (2 miles north), Kentish Town (2 miles north), Greenhill (4 miles north-west) and Chalk Farm (2 miles north-west). As one of the bigger places in Camden, West End is covered for all of our fitted furniture.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

A standalone wardrobe can go with you when you move. Fitted storage stays put, and it makes far more of the loft. Which suits you depends on your plans. The two recesses beside a chimney breast are seldom an identical size, which means a matching pair of ready-made units seldom fits both. Each side can be made to its own size.

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

How fitting works for loft storage

Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, then checked again. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Where a period house has been split into flats, the way in often goes through shared parts, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. It starts when you get in touch about storage in your loft, whether it is a converted room or a boarded space.
  2. We visit to measure and look at what’s behind the knee walls, and discuss the design with you.
  3. Your quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish. You can ask us about any of it.
  4. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, cut to the slope.
  5. We fit it in your home and leave it ready to use, with the doors and drawers checked with you.

Ask for a quote

Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you are ready, get in touch through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

Plinths and scribe strips

Loft rooms are seldom square. We use scribe strips and a plinth to take up the difference. That keeps the lines neat all round.

Birch plywood

Drawers in the knee wall can carry heavy things, from boxes to bedding. Birch plywood suits them, as it is strong and holds screws well. It also suits long shelves.
