TV and media units in East End of London
Hiding the cables is often the main aim. We plan cable routes through the unit from the start, with openings and removable panels so you can add or swap leads later. We make the routes, and your electrician handles any wiring. We make TV and media units from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a tangle of wires behind the TV and games, controllers and remotes everywhere.
Homes built since 2000 are often open-plan, with the kitchen, dining and living space in one room, and around East End of London many homes date from those years. TV and media units can give the sitting end of an open-plan room its own identity. Floors are protected throughout, as newer finishes mark easily.
A written quote follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

What TV and media units cannot fix
Not everything around TV and media units is carpentry, like an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Installing aerials, satellite dishes or broadband
- Any electrical work (your electrician handles that, and Part P covers some of it)
- Removing a chimney breast or any structural work
Not sure whether your space suits TV and media units? You can tell us about the room on our contact form and we will tell you. How it works.

Tips worth knowing
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Count your equipment, including routers and consoles
- Find out how much space each box needs around it
- Let us know about access early
- Book your electrician first if sockets need to move
Clean the paintwork with a soft cloth that is barely damp. Avoid abrasive pads and strong sprays, which can mark the finish.
Label cables when you set things up to make future changes easier.

Why people ask for TV and media units in East End of London
Boxes, consoles and routers on the floor are a familiar sight. A unit gives every box its own space, with air to keep it cool.
Typical reasons people contact us include:
- Clutter around the TV
- Boxes with no ventilation
- Boxes and consoles on the floor
- Bought furniture that doesn’t suit the room
For a flat near Shadwell station, the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it.

TV and media units in East End of London: local notes
About 36% of the homes in the neighbourhood around East End of London went up since 2000, and about 21% between 1973 and 1999, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of East End of London include Church of St George in the East (Grade I), less than half a mile south-west, and Church of St Peter (Grade I), about 0.6 miles south. If your own home is listed, changes inside that alter its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Tower Hamlets is inside it. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in East End of London. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit.
For a family home near St Mary and St Michael Primary School, TV and media units can be planned with low cupboards for toys and higher shelves for everything else. If your home is one of the older houses near Church of St Mary, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units.

Questions we’re often asked
Will a conservation area stop me having TV and media units fitted in East End of London?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Can you make TV and media units for a home in East End of London?
Yes, we work across Tower Hamlets, East End of London included, and across the rest of London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.
How do I get a quote?
Just get in touch through our contact form. It is useful to send rough measurements and a few photos, and we will arrange a design visit, followed by a written quote.
Who chooses the colour?
You choose it. We agree the colour with you before anything is painted.
Should I send photos?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need someone to let us in. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
Is bespoke worth it?
Off-the-shelf TV units come in a few set colours. Ours are painted in a colour agreed with you, by spray or by hand. In a newer flat, big flat-pack units can be hard to get into the lift or through the door, while fitted furniture comes in sections sized for the route. The sections are joined and fixed once inside.
There’s no price list, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To arrange a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

How fitting works for TV and media units
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, which keeps the lines straight. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Fitting day starts by covering floors and setting out the sections. The pieces are levelled and fixed with fixings that suit the wall. Hand-painted finishes can be completed once the furniture is in.
- You send us a note about the room and the unit you’d like.
- We visit to measure and talk through the design and how the unit should look in the room.
- A written quote follows, with the finish set out.
- The unit is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which takes paint well, and birch plywood.
- The unit is fitted and scribed to the walls, and any hand painting is done in the room. Go gently with new paintwork while it cures.
Preparing the room
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
Getting a quote
If you know what you want, say so; if you do not, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
