TV and media units for your home in Greenhill
About our TV and media units in Greenhill
Speakers need space to be heard properly. A soundbar can sit on a shelf below the screen. Closing speakers in a cupboard muffles them, so we leave open bays for them. Most enquiries start with equipment with nowhere proper to go and equipment running hot in a closed cupboard, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Rooms in houses from before 1919 tend to have generous ceiling heights, and around Greenhill, a large share of homes are that age. That gives full-height TV and media units room to reach the picture rail or the cornice, so the furniture looks as if it belongs to the house. Where a fireplace has been blocked up, the chimney still needs ventilating, and any damp is sorted before units go in.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Before and after fitting day
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Here are our suggestions:
- Note the screen size you have or plan to buy
- Mention parking and stairs when we visit
- Check where the seating will go
- Check each box’s guidance on ventilation and clearances
Vents and equipment shelves gather dust, so a quick clean now and then helps. Clear vents keep equipment cooler.
Heavy equipment is best kept low, with the weight spread across shelves.
Your questions about TV and media units in Greenhill
My house in Greenhill is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?
Yes. Walls in older houses are rarely flat or square, and floors are often out of level, so each piece is scribed to follow the wall and set level on a plinth or adjustable feet. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Older walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, and the fixings are chosen to suit.
I live near Hampstead Heath station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Camden and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room.
How long are you in the house for fitting?
The fitting depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. The unit is made in our workshop first, so the time in your home is mostly fitting and finishing.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
We plan the route in at the design visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and each section is made to a size that will get through.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some require the building owner’s consent for alterations. We can’t give advice on your lease, so check it or ask your managing agent.
Where should speakers go in a TV unit?
Speakers work best in open spaces rather than behind doors. A shelf under the TV suits a soundbar with open bays for bigger speakers. Tell us the speaker sizes when we visit.
When is bespoke worth it?
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot usually do that in an older room.
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well.
When you need someone else
We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:
- Configuring the TV and sound system
- Taking out a fireplace or chimney breast
- Plastering or decorating around the unit
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we will give you a straight answer. How it works.
What it is made from

How fitting day works
Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you get in touch.
