Walk-in wardrobes in Spitalfields
Lighting makes a big difference in a dressing room. Wiring for new lights is a job for your electrician. We can plan the units so there is space for the lighting you want, and agree the details at the measuring visit. Most enquiries start with a dressing area in part of a bedroom and a use for a small spare room; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Hinged doors need space to open, which a compact bedroom may not have, so the layout and the kind of door are worked out together. Around Spitalfields, many homes date from 2000 onwards, and newer bedrooms tend to be on the small side. We measure the space in front as well as the wall.
Everything we agree at the measuring visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

We make doors in a style that suits the room and finish them to match. You can mix doors with open storage.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them during the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, unloading takes some planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising at the measuring visit.
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Spitalfields
In the area around Spitalfields, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 45%) and before 1919 (about 19%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. 36 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Spitalfields. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. On TfL’s red routes, the rules on stopping and loading are strict. Where a home in Spitalfields is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
Close to Finsbury Circus? Keeping walk-in wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright. Mansion House, about 0.7 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. For an older house near Christ Church, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

Questions from Spitalfields
My home in Spitalfields is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. Walk-in wardrobes are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to London Liverpool Street station?
Yes, homes across Tower Hamlets and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details about the room.
Do walk-in wardrobes need ventilation?
Yes. A room full of clothes needs air moving through it, especially on an external wall, which can be colder and damper. The units are designed with ventilation in mind.
Is it better to have doors or open storage?
That depends on how you like to use the space. Doors, open rails and shelves can all be combined, and we’ll talk it through during the design visit.
Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?
Yes. We design the units to make a dressing area within the bedroom, while any new walls are for your builder.
Can I send photos before the visit?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It is useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
When you need someone else
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Getting consent under your lease
- Building a new partition wall

What else we make in Spitalfields
Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Spitalfields
What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. The main factors are:
- How big the furniture is
- Parking and unloading on your street
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Spray painting or hand painting
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.
Before the design visit
When you contact us, these help most:
- Your postcode and the borough
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
From workshop to your room
When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop, a piece at a time. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Newer developments sometimes have their own parking and loading rules, so let us know what applies at the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and describe the room.
- We visit to plan the room and measure the way in, including stairs, landings and doorways. It helps to mention parking then, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the units in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We carry the sections in, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.
Before fitting day
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
