Walk-in wardrobes in Maze Hill, Greenwich
Planning walk-in wardrobes for a home in Maze Hill? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a quote in writing, before anything is made.
- A dressing table with drawers and a mirror
- Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom
- Long and double hanging planned around your clothes
Walk-in wardrobes designed for your room
Is it time for walk-in wardrobes?
Most people come to us because their clothes have outgrown their wardrobes. Clothes are squashed together and shoes pile up. A dressing room spreads it all out so you can see it.
People typically get in touch with us about things like these:
- Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom
- Shelves for shoes and bags
- More space for clothes and shoes
- The right mix of long and short hanging
For families living near John Roan School, walk-in wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Will the quote be in writing?
- Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Maze Hill
With a walk-in wardrobe, clothes, shoes and bags have a space to themselves. We build them in spare rooms, box rooms and corners of bedrooms, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. Everything is built in our workshop and fitted to the room, scribed to the walls and set level. Most enquiries start with proper shoe storage and a calmer, clearer bedroom; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Many homes around Maze Hill were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are compact flats in newer blocks. Small rooms suit fitted furniture that uses the full height and the tricky corners. Boxing for pipes and risers is designed around rather than left as dead space.
Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

When is bespoke worth it?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it’s quick to buy.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
Fitting day, step by step
On the morning of the fitting, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made in our workshop come in next, one at a time. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a newer home, floors, walls and door frames are often freshly finished, so we protect the route before carrying anything in. Door frames and corners get covers too. Once inside, the pieces are joined in place.
- You contact us about a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room.
- At the design visit we agree the layout and check how the units will reach the room. It is useful to mention parking then, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the units in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The units are brought in, assembled and set level. The finish is sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
Arranging a design visit
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the design visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, use our contact form with a few details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.
Advice
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Neither choice is right for every home. In a square room with a tight budget, a ready-made system may be enough. Where the room is awkward or you want it to feel built in, bespoke is typically the better fit. Rooms in newer homes are often compact, and standard depths can take too much floor, whereas fitted pieces can be as shallow as the space needs. It can still go to the ceiling.
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You’ll see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
Is parking a problem for fitting in Maze Hill?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Do you make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Maze Hill?
Yes, Maze Hill is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Greenwich and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Can I send pictures before the visit?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you, and it’s set out in the quote.
