Walk-in wardrobes for homes in North Greenwich
Beyond the hanging, drawers, shelves and shoe storage do a lot of the work. Folded knitwear sits well on shelves, smaller things go in drawers and shoes can have racks or shelves of their own. A dressing table with a mirror can be built in where there is space. Typical reasons to get in touch are storage for clothes that have outgrown the wardrobe and shelves for shoes and bags; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Many homes around North Greenwich have been built since 2000, and in newer homes, bedrooms tend to be compact, with plasterboard stud walls. Heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor, rather than relying on the board alone. Where a small built-in cupboard came with the home, it can be reworked as part of the design.
The furniture is made at our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. More than half of the homes in the area around North Greenwich (about 52%) were built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Newer homes often have compact bedrooms with plasterboard stud walls, so fitted furniture is fixed to suit the board.
Close to Mudchute Park and Farm? Walk-in wardrobes are typically planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. Near listed buildings like Church of St Nicholas, about 0.5 miles south of the centre of North Greenwich, older homes may keep original joinery that walk-in wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent.

Questions from North Greenwich
Do you cover homes near Greenwich station?
Yes. We cover all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
My home in North Greenwich is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Walk-in wardrobes are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Can you build a dressing area in my bedroom?
Yes. A run of units can define a dressing area, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.
Do you do the electrics?
No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. We agree the colour with you before anything is painted.
Is a box room big enough for a walk-in wardrobe?
Often, yes. The layout depends on the room, the door and the window, so we work it out when we measure.
Do you need walk-in wardrobes in North Greenwich?
Sharing one wardrobe between two rarely works for long. A walk-in wardrobe can be planned with a side for each, so both have room.
Requests we hear often include:
- Room for a growing wardrobe
- A side each for a couple
- Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom
- The right mix of long and short hanging
If your children go to Harbinger Primary School or a school nearby, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.
What to check before you book
- Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
- Where they’ll park and unload
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
What affects the price in North Greenwich
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- How many doors and drawers there are
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- Parking and unloading on your street
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Tell us about parking at the design visit.
What to send when you get in touch
These details help when you get in touch:
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Where you live, with the postcode
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- How you want to use the space
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

How fitting works for walk-in wardrobes
On the morning of the fitting, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made in our workshop come in next. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a newer development, the lift, the concierge and set working hours may all need checking, so check them with the managing agent before fitting day. The furniture is built in sections that fit the lift and doorways.
- We start with the space and the clothes it needs to hold, from long coats to shoes.
- At the design visit we measure the room and plan the hanging, shelves and drawers, including any dressing table.
- We send a quote in writing with the design, materials and finish.
- The units are made and finished in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- Fitting day: the units are fitted and trimmed to the room. We then check the doors and drawers with you.
Preparing the room
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
Ask for a quote
Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design, then send a written quote.

When is bespoke worth it?
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it is quick to buy.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can use the full height and width.
Is bespoke worth it?
Off-the-shelf wardrobe systems are quicker to get and normally cost less, and in a simple room they may suit. In an older room with uneven walls and a sloping floor, they leave gaps. A bespoke walk-in wardrobe is made to the room. Off-the-shelf depths can crowd a compact new-build room, while fitted furniture can be made shallower where space is tight. It can still go to the ceiling.
How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
