Walk-in wardrobes in Royal Docks

Walk-in wardrobes in Royal Docks: what you get

A walk-in wardrobe gives your clothes a room of their own. We build them in spare rooms, box rooms and corners of bedrooms, with hanging rails, shelving and drawers planned around what you own. Everything is built in our workshop and fitted to the room, so it follows the walls and sits level. If your home has shelves for shoes and bags and setting aside a corner of a large bedroom, walk-in wardrobes made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

Many homes around Royal Docks were built since 2000, and a newer bedroom seldom comes with storage that fits how you live. We design walk-in wardrobes around the window, the radiator and the door. Where the flat is in a managed block, check the rules on deliveries and lifts before fitting day.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Is it time for walk-in wardrobes?

A spare room or box room that rarely gets used is another reason. Turning it into a dressing room can make better use of it instead of a store for odds and ends.

People normally get in touch with us about things like these:

  • Hanging for coats, dresses and shirts
  • A bedroom without crowded wardrobes
  • Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom
  • Room for two wardrobes in one space

For an older house near Church of the Ascension, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Whether the quote follows a visit to your home
  • Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
  • Is it spray painted or hand painted?

Our checklist for choosing a carpenter

Why bespoke in Royal Docks?

Off-the-shelf wardrobe systems are quicker to get and usually cost less, and in a simple room they may suit. Where walls lean and floors slope, they rarely fit neatly. Ours is built to the room’s real shape. In an open-plan room, standalone pieces can look scattered, while fitted furniture can give the space structure.

We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote. To start, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Why choose us

  • We visit, measure and go through the design before we quote
  • Over 300 projects completed
  • Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Designed for the room you have

Read how bespoke compares with ready-made or what a quote should include.

From workshop to your room

You will not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Before fixing into a stud wall, we check for pipes and cables, and heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor. Other trades handle any new sockets or plumbing.

  1. You tell us about the room and what you want to store, from long coats to shoes.
  2. We visit to measure up and go through the layout, including any dressing table.
  3. A quote follows, setting out the design and finish.
  4. We build everything in our workshop.
  5. Fitting day: the units are fitted and trimmed to the room. We then check the doors and drawers with you.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall

Ask for a quote

Getting a quote starts with some details: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, message us from the contact page. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Royal Docks

In the area around Royal Docks, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 49%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 44%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. Near the centre of Royal Docks, Historic England’s list includes The Connaught Tavern (Grade II), under half a mile north-west, and Central Buffet at Custom House (Grade II), about 0.6 miles east. If your own home is listed, changes inside that alter its character, like fixing into or removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Newer homes are more common around Royal Docks than across Newham: about 49% date from 2000 onwards, against about 29%, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.

For a flat near Custom House station, the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. For families living near Calverton Primary School, walk-in wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow.

FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Royal Docks

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Royal Docks?

Yes. We cover all of Newham and the rest of London, and Royal Docks is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.

I live near Custom House station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to be there to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Can I send photos before the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

What does a walk-in wardrobe cost?

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Each walk-in wardrobe is different, so we quote once we’ve measured. To get started, get in touch through our contact form.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and go through the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a written quote.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so let us know about it at the design visit.

What walk-in wardrobes can’t fix

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:

  • Electrical work in the room
  • Building work to create the room
  • Getting consent under your lease

Not sure whether your space suits walk-in wardrobes? You can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.
