Need fitted wardrobes in Park Royal?

From workshop to your room

However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Newer homes often have finished floors, painted walls and new doors that mark easily, so we protect the route before carrying anything in. Door frames and corners get covers too. The sections are assembled in the room.

  1. You contact us with a short note about the room and the wardrobes you have in mind.
  2. We visit to measure the room and talk through the design. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. Your quote follows, with the layout, materials and finish set out.
  4. We make the carcasses, doors and drawers in our workshop.
  5. We install the wardrobes, hang the doors and fit the rails, shelves and drawers.

Preparing the room

  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand

Getting a quote

Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough measurements and some pictures if you have them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

Fitted wardrobes in Park Royal

Fitted wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in a colour agreed with you. We then fit them in your home, setting them level on adjustable feet or a plinth and scribing them to the walls and ceiling. Typical reasons to get in touch are several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and gaps above and around standalone wardrobes, and the answer is made in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Many homes around Park Royal have been built since 2000, and newer bedrooms are often compact, with plasterboard walls. Heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor, rather than relying on the board alone. Where a small built-in cupboard came with the home, it can be reworked as part of the design.

Our quotes are written in plain words. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

I live in a flat in Park Royal. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. Fitted wardrobes are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Does a conservation area in or near Park Royal affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Do I choose the paint colour?

The choice is yours, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you have chosen.

Will a sloping floor cause problems for fitted wardrobes?

Uneven floors are normal in older homes. The wardrobes are levelled on adjustable feet or a plinth.

Is it OK to put a wardrobe on an outside wall?

Yes, as long as it is ventilated. An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, so we plan airflow behind and within it to help avoid condensation and mould.

Can fitted wardrobes follow a sloping ceiling?

Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, keeping hanging space at the tall end and drawers or shelves lower down. It turns awkward space into storage.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can use the full height and width.

What we don’t do

Before you plan the job, it helps to know what we do not do:

  • Moving switches or sockets, which needs an electrician
  • Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
  • Treating damp or mould on the walls

Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can send us a few details through our contact form and we’ll tell you. How a job runs, step by step.

Materials and parts

  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Hinged or sliding doors
  • Hand-painted finish

How it is made

Birch plywood

Shelves inside a wardrobe carry folded clothes, shoes and boxes. Birch plywood keeps them flat.

Doors and drawer fronts

Where there is room to open them, hinged doors give full access. Sliding doors suit narrow rooms.

Practical tips

The finish lasts best with a little care. Here are our suggestions:

  • List the things that will not hang, such as jumpers and shoes
  • Move furniture away from the wardrobe wall ahead of time
  • Look at how many long coats and dresses you have
  • Ask your electrician about moving sockets early

New paintwork is dry to the touch long before it has fully cured. For the first while, open and close the doors gently and avoid knocking hangers against the inside.

Let doors close gently rather than slamming, and slide doors without forcing them. It helps the hinges and runners stay true.
