Flats, blocks and rented homes
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them during the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
How we make bespoke kitchens for Lampton
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. We plan each space around the appliances you’ve chosen, so everything fits as it should. Your quote sets out the materials and finish. If you are living with cabinets built around the appliances you choose and more storage in a small kitchen, that’s what kitchens are for, made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Where a back room and kitchen have been knocked together, a kitchen-diner may have a chimney breast at the dining end, and the recesses beside it can take a dresser or larder. Around Lampton, where interwar homes and semis are a big part of the housing, the design can make the most of it. Any capped chimney stays ventilated.
A quote in writing follows the design visit. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish, so it is clear what’s included.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Lampton
Is Lampton in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes. Lampton is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Hounslow and London. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Hounslow station?
Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and go through the design with you. We’ll also ask about access and parking.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. The paint colour is agreed with you.
Do pictures help?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens
There’s no set price, because there is no set room. The things that affect it are:
- The width and height of the space
- How square the room is
- The number of doors and drawers
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. It helps to talk about parking during the design visit, so it can be planned.
Before the design visit
Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:
- How you want to use the space
- A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Where you live, with the postcode
Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, send us a few details through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a quote in writing.
Practical tips
People planning bespoke kitchens often ask about these. They help before and after fitting:
- List what needs a home in the kitchen
- Give the paint time to cure fully
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Know your appliance sizes early
Hand-painted kitchens are easy to touch up. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth. Keep a note of the paint colours.
Talk to your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer early. Their work and ours need to fit together, so it helps if everyone knows the plan.
How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
Getting everything level comes first. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, which keeps the lines straight. After that, it’s fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. It helps to clear the room and the route before we arrive. Fitting day starts with protecting the floors and setting out the pieces. The pieces are levelled, fitted to the walls and fixed back.
- You contact us about a bespoke kitchen.
- At the design visit we plan the kitchen and talk about colours and finish.
- Your written quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish.
- The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and a spray finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
- The kitchen is fitted and scribed to the walls, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Treat new paint gently while it cures; the plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your own plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
Preparing the room
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall

Kitchens in Lampton: local notes
In the streets around Lampton, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 31%) and the years since 2000 (about 27%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Lampton, Historic England’s list includes Hounslow Congregational Church (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south, and Osterley Mansions (Grade II), about 0.6 miles east. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If you live on or close to a main road in Lampton, let us know during the design visit. We can then plan where the van will stop.
Osterley House, about 1.1 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. Close to Inwood Park? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen. For an older house near St Luke, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top.

Flat-pack or bespoke?
If you’re handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.
