Bespoke kitchens in South Lambeth, Lambeth

In South Lambeth, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. We design your kitchen at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

Bespoke kitchens in South Lambeth: what you get

We make kitchens for homes in South Lambeth and across London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and planning the layout, then a written quote. Once agreed, the kitchen is built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you can plan around it. We make kitchens from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and people most often get in touch about a kitchen finished in your colours and an island where space allows.

A large number of homes around South Lambeth date from 2000 onwards, and in London many homes of that age have compact kitchens. Made-to-measure cabinets use the gaps a standard kitchen leaves. Boxed-in pipes and risers are built around.

The furniture is built in our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

Questions we are often asked

How do you fit bespoke kitchens in a flat in South Lambeth?

At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. Kitchens are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in South Lambeth?

Yes, South Lambeth is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Lambeth and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and talk through the design, and then we send a quote.

How long will the kitchen take to fit?

How long fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

Can I send photos before the visit?

Yes, they help. Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them, message us from the contact page.

What happens when you come to measure?

We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, and the written quote comes afterwards.

Do I choose the paint colour?

The choice is yours, and it’s agreed with you before painting. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you have chosen.

How it’s made

Larder and dresser units

They’re a good way to use an alcove or the end of a wall.

Hand-painted finish

Hand painting can be done in your home after fitting. It is easy to touch up later.

Caring for painted furniture

Looking after painted furniture is simple with a little care. A few things help it stay looking good:

  • Pick the oven, fridge and dishwasher first
  • Mention any parking or lift rules
  • Measure the route into the kitchen
  • Share the layout with your other trades

Once the kitchen is fitted, the paint needs time to cure fully. Treat the doors and drawer fronts gently at first and avoid harsh cleaners. In time, mild soapy water and a soft cloth keep them clean.

Talk to your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe engineer early. Their work and ours need to fit together, and it’s easier when everyone works from the same design.

Fitting day, step by step

The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. In a newer development, the lift, the concierge and set working hours may all need checking, so it helps to sort them out beforehand. The furniture is built in sections that fit the lift and doorways.

  1. We start with how you use the kitchen and what isn’t working.
  2. We come to measure up and plan the layout with you.
  3. You get a written quote for the cabinets, with the materials and finish set out, for you to read through.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made at our workshop.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics. We don’t arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.

Preparing the room

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager

Arranging a design visit

Getting a quote starts with a few details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you’re ready, drop us a line using the contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Advice

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you contact us.

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, which we check during the design visit.

Could you do it yourself?

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

Cost matters, and it’s fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is awkward, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

Bespoke kitchens for homes in South Lambeth

In the area around South Lambeth, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 46%) and before 1919 (about 21%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. Within a mile of the centre of South Lambeth, 22 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Newer homes are more common around South Lambeth than across Lambeth: about 46% date from 2000 onwards, against about 17%, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.

For an older house near St Stephen's Church, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. Near listed buildings like Christ Church, about 0.5 miles east of the centre of South Lambeth, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. For a family home near Herbert Morrison Primary School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off.
