Bespoke kitchens in Streatham, Lambeth
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on bespoke kitchens in Streatham starts with a design visit, and everything is built in our workshop.

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Streatham
We’re carpenters, so we make and fit the cabinets, while other trades handle the services. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and electrics by your electrician, so the design allows for pipes, cables and connections. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are a larder for food and small appliances and room for everything in the kitchen.
Older homes usually have generous ceiling heights, and around Streatham, a large share of homes are that age. That suits tall larder cupboards and wall cabinets taken up to the ceiling. Cabinets are made from moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, with the finish agreed in your quote.
Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Flats, leases and landlords
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it during the design visit.
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.

Tips worth knowing
A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. Here are our suggestions:
- Talk to your other trades in good time
- Know your appliance sizes early
- Measure the route into the kitchen
- Check there’s room around an island before planning one
Follow the appliance makers’ guidance for your oven, hob and dishwasher, and the care advice for your worktop.
It is useful to know which appliances you want early. Their sizes shape the cabinets, so late changes can be awkward.
Kitchens in Streatham: local notes
About 55% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Streatham went up before 1919, and about 17% between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. The Streatham High Road and Streatham Hill Conservation Area is close by, within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Streatham. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If in doubt, the council’s planning team can confirm. TfL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every part of London, Lambeth included. It applies to every van that comes to fit furniture in Streatham. We go through parking and access at the measuring visit.
Close to Streatham Common? A tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. For an older house near St Leonard's Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. If you live in a flat close to Streatham station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.
Streatham is about 3 miles north of Stockwell, within the London Borough of Lambeth. Wherever you are in Streatham, the process is the same: we visit and measure, send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. In Lambeth, Streatham is one of the places we cover.
Every home in SW16, SW2, CR4 and SW12 is within our area for bespoke kitchens. If your home is on a street like Stanthorpe Road, Gleneagle Mews and Madeira Road, or close by, we can arrange a design visit for bespoke kitchens. Streatham sits close to the A205 and A216. If your home is on one of them, tell us at the measuring visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. Close by, we also work in Streatham Park (1 mile west), Furzedown (1 mile west), Streatham Hill (1 mile north), Hyde farm estate (1 mile north) and Grange Mills (1 mile north-west). Other parts of Lambeth we cover include Stockwell (3 miles north), Kennington (4 miles north), North Brixton (3 miles north), Little Portugal (3 miles north), Clapham (3 miles north) and South Bank (5 miles north). Being one of the larger places in Lambeth, Streatham is covered for all of our fitted furniture.

What affects the price in Streatham
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- The number of doors and drawers
- How big the furniture is
- The internal fittings
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose.
Helping us understand the room
To help us picture the room, please include:
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
For a quote for bespoke kitchens in Streatham, fill in our short enquiry form. Let us know the room and the rough idea, with sizes if you have them. Next comes a design visit, followed by a quote in writing.
Honest limits
Not everything around bespoke kitchens is carpentry, from an electrician to a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:
- Painting the walls around the kitchen
- Connecting a gas hob or cooker
- Wiring for appliances and lights
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can send us a few details through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.
What it’s made from
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Birch plywood
- Hand-painted finish
- Islands where space allows
- Larders and dressers
- Spray-painted finish
How fitting day works
The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.
- It starts with a short note from you about the room.
- We visit to plan the layout and check how the cabinets will get into the room.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the kitchen from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in pieces that suit the route in.
- The cabinets are fitted in your home with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish; plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.
Before we arrive
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
How to get a quote
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A quote in writing follows the visit. To book one, send us a few details through our contact form.

Questions from Streatham
Is parking a problem for fitting in Streatham?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Streatham station?
Yes, homes across Lambeth and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details about the room.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations, including fixing furniture to the walls. We can’t advise on leases, so please check yours.
What are your kitchens made from?
We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.
Will you connect the sink and appliances?
No, that work is for other trades. Your plumber connects the sink and dishwasher, a Gas Safe engineer handles any gas, and your electrician does the wiring, while we make and fit the cabinets.
