Fitted cupboards for your home in Perivale
How we make fitted cupboards for Perivale
The carcasses and doors are made from moisture-resistant MDF or birch plywood, chosen for the job each part does. MDF is stable and takes paint well, while birch plywood is good for long shelves. The finish is either spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in the colour you choose. People usually come to us about a neat cupboard around the boiler and tall cupboards where space is short, and the answer is made in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Walls in houses from between the wars are normally straighter than in older ones, but seldom perfect. Around Perivale, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a big part of the housing, so we still scribe every piece to the wall. Lids, doors and drawers are set level on site so they run true.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It describes the fitted cupboard we have designed for the room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and it’s what the workshop builds to.

How it’s made
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home, after the cupboards are fitted. It’s easy to touch up later.
Birch plywood
Shelves that carry weight need a strong board, and birch plywood helps. Span, depth and load all matter.
How fitting day works
You are welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made at the design visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting. How long fitting takes depends on how many cupboards there are and where they go, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so pieces for a loft room are sized for the narrowest point. The main stairs in houses of that age are usually straighter. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.
- You contact us about fitted cupboards.
- At the design visit we plan the cupboards and check how the sections will get in.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the cupboards in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The sections are carried in, joined and set level. The finish is sprayed before fitting or painted by hand on site.
How to prepare
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
Ask for a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you do not, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, send us a few details through our contact form.

- Building work or structural changes
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Looking after your furniture
Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. Beyond that, these tips help:
- Point out anything that needs access
- Leave room in front of the meters
- Look at your lease before fixing to the walls
- Mention any parking or lift rules
Over time, you may want to move a shelf or add a rail. Shelves can be set at heights that suit you, so the space keeps working.
Tell us about parking and access at the measuring visit. Much of London has controlled parking, and blocks of flats can have rules about lifts and deliveries.
Fitted storage in Perivale
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Perivale were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 77%) and since 2000 (about 11%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Perivale, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Mary the Virgin (Grade I), about 0.5 miles south, and Perivale Underground Station (Grade II), less than half a mile south-west. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can require listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your home is on or just off a main road, it helps to mention it. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
If you live near Castle Bar Park, fitted cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. For a flat near South Greenford station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. The wider area includes historic houses like Pitzhanger Manor, about 2 miles south. For a period home anywhere nearby, fitted cupboards can fill recesses that are rarely a standard size.
Perivale is about 2 miles south of Ealing, in the London Borough of Ealing. From period terraces to newer flats in Perivale, the furniture is designed around the room as we find it. Across Ealing, we cover Perivale and the places around it.
Every address in UB6, HA0 and W5 is within our area for fitted cupboards, from the main roads to the quieter streets. We cover homes on streets such as Lee Road, Wicket Road and Bilton Road, along with the roads around them, for fitted cupboards and any of our other fitted furniture. We also cover Pitshanger (1 mile south), Brentham Garden Suburb (1 mile south-east), Sudbury Hill (1 mile north), Sudbury (1 mile north) and Greenford (1 mile west). Elsewhere in Ealing, we also cover Ealing (2 miles south), Acton (3 miles south-east), Southall (3 miles south-west), Northolt (2 miles west), Acton Green (4 miles south-east) and Bedford Park (4 miles south-east).
Near you in Perivale
We fit furniture in homes around St Benedict's School, Brentham Clubhouse pub and Alperton Community School, among other places. For rail, the closest station is South Greenford station, about 0.8 miles south-west of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Clementine Churchill Hospital (1.9 miles north) and London Designer Outlet (1.9 miles north-east). Not far away are Castlebar Hill and Perivale Wood.
Flats, blocks and rented homes
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.
