Paddington Fitted Wardrobes
In Paddington, we design fitted wardrobes around the room you actually have. Your fitted wardrobe is designed at a visit to your home and made in our workshop.
- Too little room for clothes
- Empty alcoves in the bedroom
- Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
How we price fitted wardrobes
We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. These are the things that affect it:
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- The width and height of the space
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. It helps to talk about parking during the design visit, so we can plan for it.
Getting in touch
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Your postcode and the borough
We quote once we’ve seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. To book a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Fitted wardrobes in Paddington: what you get
We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in the colour you choose. Then we fit them in your home, levelling them on a plinth or adjustable feet. Most enquiries start with several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and storage boxes stacked under the bed, and the answer is made in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Around Paddington, a large share of homes date from before 1919, and in a Victorian or Edwardian bedroom, the chimney breast and its alcoves often shape the room. Fitted furniture can fill the alcoves, wrap round the chimney breast or run across a whole wall. Walls and floors in older houses are rarely true, so the pieces are scribed to the wall and levelled at the base.
The quote comes in writing, so there’s time to read it properly and share it with anyone else involved. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. Sloping ceilings, uneven floors and lath-and-plaster walls make it harder.
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it’s quick to buy.
How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it sits neatly against the room. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the wardrobes and the number of doors, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Hallways in period houses are often narrow, and the stairs turn sharply, so fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized to get through. Floors, stairs and doorways are covered before anything is carried through.
- You get in touch and let us know what you keep in your wardrobes now.
- We visit to measure up and work out the inside with you, from rail heights to drawer depths.
- The written quote sets out each wardrobe’s inside layout, the doors, the materials and the finish.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site, and the inside fittings go in last.
Before fitting day
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Empty the space we will be working in
Ask for a quote
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Advice
FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Paddington
Is Paddington in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?
Yes, we work across Westminster, Paddington included, and across the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to London Paddington station?
Yes, homes across Westminster and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
How do I get a quote for fitted wardrobes in Paddington?
Simply tell us about the room on our contact form. It is useful to send rough sizes and a few photos, and then we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, followed by a quote in writing.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Let us know when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
What if my bedroom floor isn’t level?
Uneven floors are normal in older homes. The wardrobes are levelled on adjustable feet or a plinth and the doors line up.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We’ll design around them.
Flats, conversions and leaseholders
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you get in touch.
What it’s made from
Spray-painted finish
Spraying coats edges and corners evenly. You choose the colour before we start.
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home after fitting. It’s easy to touch up later, and it works well in a period bedroom.
Fitted bedroom furniture in Paddington
About 47% of the homes in the streets around Paddington went up before 1919, and about 17% between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Within a mile of the centre of Paddington, 13 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. Vans bringing furniture to Paddington fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. We plan parking and access with you at the measuring visit.
If you live in a flat close to London Paddington station, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room. For a family home near International Community School, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. Near listed buildings like Catholic Apostolic Church and Church House, about 0.5 miles north-west of the centre of Paddington, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent.
