Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
Fitted wardrobes in Pimlico: what you get
Rail heights are set for the clothes they hold. A tall section suits long coats and dresses, while two rails, one over the other, suit shirts and jackets. We plan for the people using it too. If you’re living with an awkward slope in a loft bedroom and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
Many homes around Pimlico were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are compact flats in newer blocks. In a compact bedroom, fitted furniture that reaches the ceiling and uses the corners makes the most difference. Boxing for pipes and risers is designed around rather than left as dead space.
The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the fitted wardrobe designed for your room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and it’s what the workshop builds to.

Questions we’re often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Pimlico?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Do you cover homes near London Victoria station?
Yes. We cover all of Westminster and the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Is it possible to have storage over the bed?
Yes. A common layout is tall cupboards either side of the bed and storage above the headboard. We plan it so the bed fits comfortably and the room still feels open.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Can fitted wardrobes follow a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Many loft rooms have sloping ceilings and fitted storage suits them well. The slope is measured at the measuring visit and the wardrobe scribed to it on site.
How do I get started?
The first step is to get in touch through our contact form and let us know about the room. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a written quote.
What it’s made from
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home after fitting. Small marks are simple to touch up, and it suits a softer, traditional look.
Hanging rails
Rails are set at heights that suit your clothes: a high rail for long items and double rails for shorter ones.
Looking after your furniture
Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Let us know about any damp you have seen on bedroom walls
- Think about where you’ll keep shoes, bags and folded clothes
- Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
With sliding doors, vacuum the track now and then so the doors run smoothly. Do not let shoes or bags sit in the track.
Every so often, check that nothing has worked loose and adjust doors before a rub marks the paint.
Flats, conversions and lettings
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there is a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Mention it when you get in touch.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
Bedrooms in Pimlico: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Pimlico were built since 2000 (about 42%) and before 1919 (about 29%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). That matters for fitted wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Part of Pimlico is in the Pimlico Conservation Area, one of the conservation areas recorded by Historic England. Being in a conservation area mainly affects changes to the outside of a building, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you are not sure. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of inner London. That usually means a van in Pimlico needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. Parking is worth mentioning at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of St James The Less, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Living in a block of flats near London Victoria station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.
Pimlico is within the City of Westminster, about 2 miles north of City of Westminster. Wherever you are in Pimlico, it works the same way: a design visit, a written quote, furniture built in our workshop and fitting in your home. We cover places right across Westminster, large and small.
We make fitted wardrobes across SW1P, SW1V and SW1W for fitted wardrobes. If your home is on a street like Ponton Road, Wilton Road and Ebury Square, or close by, we can visit to measure up for fitted wardrobes. The problems fitted wardrobes solve
After a loft conversion, the new bedroom normally needs storage that suits the slopes. Wardrobes built under the slope use space that would otherwise sit empty, leaving the floor open.
We are often asked to help with:
- Mismatched bedroom furniture
- Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
- Not enough hanging space
- A tight bedroom where doors get in the way
Close to Pimlico Gardens? Keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright.
Before you hire any carpenter
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Is it spray painted or hand painted?
- Where they’ll park and unload
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
What happens on fitting day
On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop, one at a time. How long the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Newer developments sometimes have their own parking and loading rules, so let us know what applies at the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and let us know about the room.
- We come to measure and discuss the design, including the doors and the finish.
- We send a quote in writing.
- The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then sprayed if you chose a spray finish.
- The wardrobes are fitted and scribed, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Before we leave, we go through the doors and drawers with you. New paint takes time to cure, so treat it gently at first.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
How to get a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, send us a few details through our contact form.
