Fitted wardrobes for your home in Seven Sisters
Fitted wardrobes in Seven Sisters: what you get
Rail heights are set for the clothes they hold. A tall section suits long coats and dresses, while shirts, jackets and folded trousers suit two rails, one above the other. We also think about who uses it, keeping rails at a height they can reach. We make fitted wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about wardrobes that are full to bursting and a bedroom that never feels tidy.
A large share of the homes around Seven Sisters were built before 1919, and in a Victorian or Edwardian bedroom, the chimney breast and its alcoves often shape the room. Fitted storage can sit in the alcoves or span the wall, chimney breast and all. Walls and floors in older houses are rarely true, so the pieces are scribed to the wall and levelled at the base.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls during the design visit.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
From workshop to your room
If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made at the design visit and set out in your quote, so fitting day is about putting it in place carefully. How long fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Parking on terraced streets can be tight, especially in a controlled parking zone, so it is useful to tell us during the design visit what’s outside. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturdays are possible by arrangement.
- It starts when you let us know about the room, the floor it is on and the wardrobes you want.
- At the design visit we plan the wardrobes with you and check the route in, including any lift or tight stair turn. Let us know about parking as well, as a van usually needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
- A quote in writing follows with the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop the wardrobes are built in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, so each piece fits through the doors and round the landings.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.
Preparing the room
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
Starting with a design visit
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Fitted wardrobes in Seven Sisters: local notes
Homes built before 1919 make up about 54% of the housing in the area around Seven Sisters, with about 14% built between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. The centre of Seven Sisters is within about a quarter of a mile of the Seven Sisters and Page Green, Tottenham High Road Hist Corr Conservation Area. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 21% of households in the streets around Seven Sisters, according to Census 2021. Conversions often leave rooms in unusual shapes, with partition walls, boxed-in pipes and chimney breasts in odd places, and the way in often goes up shared stairs. If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before anything is fixed to the walls.
If your children go to Earlsmead Primary School or a school nearby, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Near listed buildings like Church of St Bartholomew, less than half a mile south-east of the centre of Seven Sisters, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted wardrobes can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. For an older house near Church of Holy Trinity, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.

- Redecorating around the wardrobes
- Building work to create a loft room
- Curing damp, which needs the right specialist

What it’s made from
Doors and drawer fronts
Drawer fronts can sit behind the doors or on the outside, depending on the look you prefer. Internal drawers keep a clean run of doors.
Hanging rails
We place rails at the heights your clothes need: one high rail for long coats and dresses, two rails for shirts and jackets.
Bespoke fitted wardrobes or ready-made?
Standalone wardrobes cost less to buy and can come with you when you move. If you’re renting or moving soon, that may matter most. Built-in wardrobes become part of the house. Off-the-shelf furniture is made for flat walls and level floors, which older houses rarely have, so it leaves gaps at the wall, tilts on sloping floors or sits awkwardly against skirting and picture rails. Fitted pieces follow the wall and sit level.
Tricky rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it.

FAQs: fitted wardrobes in Seven Sisters
My house in Seven Sisters is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?
Yes. Walls in older houses are rarely flat or square, and floors are often out of level, so each piece is scribed to follow the wall and set level on a plinth or adjustable feet. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Older walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, and the fixings are chosen to suit.
Do you make fitted wardrobes for homes in Seven Sisters?
Yes. We cover all of Haringey and the rest of London, and Seven Sisters is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission, even in a conservation area. If the building is listed, works affecting its character can require listed building consent.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. We agree the colour with you, and it’s set out in the quote.
Do you do the electrics?
No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Many loft rooms have sloping ceilings, and fitted wardrobes are one of the best ways to use them. The slope is measured at the design visit and the wardrobe scribed to it on site.
