Fitted wardrobes in Woodside Park, Barnet

In Woodside Park, we design fitted wardrobes around the room you actually have. Your fitted wardrobe is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
  • A bedroom that never feels tidy
  • Too little room for clothes

Fitted wardrobes in Woodside Park

In a period bedroom, the alcoves beside the chimney breast make natural wardrobe spaces. Wardrobes in both alcoves leave the chimney breast on show, and each one is scribed to walls that are rarely straight. Picture rails and cornices can be met neatly or cut around. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall and a tight bedroom where doors get in the way.

A bedroom used as a guest room, a study or a dressing room needs different storage. In Woodside Park, as anywhere in London, we start by asking what the room is for. The layout, the doors and the inside follow from that. You choose the colour, spray-painted or hand-painted.

Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Why bespoke in Woodside Park?

Older homes rarely have straight walls or level floors. A standalone wardrobe can lean, rock or show tapering gaps. Ours are levelled on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the walls. Ready-made pieces come with a fixed inside layout, which may not suit what you need to store. Fitted furniture is laid out inside around your things.

There is no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, go through the design and then quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

What you get with us

What happens on fitting day

Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. For a flat, building rules and lift booking are worth checking early; for a house, steps, paths and parking are the things to mention. We plan the details of the day during the design visit. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and agree the layout and doors.
  3. Your written quote follows, setting out the design, materials and finish.
  4. The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then sprayed if you chose a spray finish.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted and scribed, with any hand painting done in the room.
  6. At the end we check each door and drawer with you; fresh paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.

How to prepare

  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going

How to get a quote

Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you’re ready, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and discuss the design, then send a written quote.

Advice

Fitted bedroom furniture in Woodside Park

About 29% of the homes in the streets around Woodside Park went up before 1919, and about 29% between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. There are 6 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Woodside Park. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. Where a home in Woodside Park is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that at the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Lodge to Finchley Catholic High School, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. Close to Swan Lane Open Space? Fitted wardrobes are usually planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let. It’s made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that is best sorted before fitting day. We can’t give advice on leases.

Pricing fitted wardrobes in Woodside Park

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:

  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
  • Parking near your home
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The width and height of the space

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

Helping us understand the room

Ahead of the design visit, we will normally ask about:

  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • Any ideas or images you have saved

Rough sizes are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit. To get started, message us from the contact page. You receive a written quote after the visit.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in Woodside Park?

Yes. Woodside Park is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Barnet and London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Woodside Park?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Can I send pictures before the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit, along with rough measurements. It is useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.

Is it OK to put a wardrobe on an outside wall?

Yes. We plan ventilation behind and inside wardrobes on external walls, using moisture-resistant MDF. If there is damp on the wall already, it should be sorted first.

Can you build wardrobes around a bed?

Yes. A common layout is tall cupboards either side of the bed and storage above the headboard. It is planned so there’s room around the bed and the room does not feel enclosed.

Do you need fitted wardrobes in Woodside Park?

After a loft conversion, the new bedroom typically needs storage that suits the slopes. Wardrobes built under the slope use space that would otherwise sit empty, leaving the floor open.

A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:

  • Empty alcoves in the bedroom
  • Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
  • Condensation behind a wardrobe on an outside wall
  • Space under the eaves going to waste

The wider area includes historic houses such as Heath Hall, about 3 miles south. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.
