North Finchley Fitted Wardrobes

Fitted wardrobes in North Finchley: floor-to-ceiling wardrobes built to the shape of your bedroom. We visit to measure and talk through the design, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it.

  • Clothes with nowhere proper to go
  • A room too narrow for hinged doors
  • Mismatched bedroom furniture

Need fitted wardrobes in North Finchley?

Why bespoke in North Finchley?

Under a sloping ceiling, standard wardrobes leave most of the space unused. A bespoke wardrobe can be shaped to follow the slope. Standalone furniture leaves gaps behind and above it that gather dust, and fitted furniture closes them.

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.

About our fitted wardrobes in North Finchley

Wardrobes can be built around a bed, with tall cupboards either side and storage bridging over the headboard. In other rooms, the units sit either side of a window, sometimes with a dressing table or a window seat between them. The layout is planned so the room doesn’t feel boxed in. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are a room too narrow for hinged doors and not enough hanging space.

A bedroom used as a guest room, a study or a dressing room needs different storage. Whatever your home in North Finchley is like, the first question during the design visit is what the room needs to do. Then the layout, doors and inside fittings follow. You choose the colour, spray-painted or hand-painted.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

It is worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is typically cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it’s easy to buy.

Questions we are often asked

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in North Finchley?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.

Is North Finchley in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?

Yes, North Finchley is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Barnet and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, followed by a quote.

How is the price worked out?

Each room is quoted on its own: size, internal fittings, the finish and how awkward the walls are all play a part. The written quote follows the design visit.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. We will also ask about access and parking.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

Fitting day, step by step

In older rooms, the furniture typically has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it looks as though it was always there. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Parking varies a lot across London, from permit zones to private bays, so let us know what’s near you at the design visit. If you live in a flat, any lift or building rules are worth checking too.

  1. You contact us with a short note about the room and the wardrobes you have in mind, including any slopes, windows or alcoves.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the doors and the inside with you.
  3. We send a written quote for the wardrobes, so you can see what’s included.
  4. Each section is built in our workshop to the room’s measurements.
  5. We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

Before fitting day

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away

Arranging a design visit

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To share them, use our contact form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.

Practical tips

Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. After that, a few simple habits help:

  • List the things that will not hang, like jumpers and shoes
  • Empty the area where we’ll be working
  • Let us know which walls face outside
  • Count how much long hanging and short hanging you need

New paintwork is dry to the touch long before it has fully cured. At first, handle the doors with care and avoid knocking hangers against the inside.

Close doors gently and don’t let them swing into furniture, and keep sliding doors from crashing into the ends. It helps the hinges and runners stay true.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Coachhouse Between Number 34 and 36, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Heath Hall, about 2.9 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. Close to Friary Park?
