Need loft storage in Brook Green?

How we price loft storage

What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. That depends on:

  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The width and height of the space
  • The number of doors and drawers
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, then set it out in the quote.

Helping us understand the room

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • How you want to use the space
  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • Examples of the look you are after

To get a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Loft storage for homes in Brook Green

Behind the short walls at the edge of a loft room, there’s often space going to waste. Cupboards and drawers set into the knee wall make that space useful. Pull-out drawers mean you don’t have to crawl in. At the design visit in Brook Green, we will see what fits. If you are living with seasonal things cluttering the loft room and boxes piled on loft boards, that is what eaves cupboards are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.

Original features like shutters, cupboard doors and panelling are worth keeping where they survive. With a large share of the homes around Brook Green built before 1919, fitted storage can be designed to sit alongside them. Panel details can be drawn to suit the house, and painted to match. If your home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original joinery.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the eaves cupboard we have designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and it is what the workshop builds to.

Brook Green homes and loft storage

In the streets around Brook Green, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 70%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 9%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Brook Green include Church of St John the Baptist (Grade I), about 0.5 miles north-east, and Church of Holy Trinity (Grade II*), under half a mile south-east. If your own home is listed, internal works that affect its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Controlled parking zones cover much of inner London, and each borough runs its own. That normally means a van in Brook Green needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. We ask about parking during the design visit, so the van can be planned for.

If your home is one of the older houses near The Parish Church of Saint Mary, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. Living in a block of flats near Kensington Olympia station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. For families living near Larmenier & Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up.

How fitting works for loft storage

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. On fitting day, edges are trimmed on site to follow the walls, so we ask for a clear space to work near the room. We keep dust down and tidy as we go. Hand painting, if that’s your finish, can follow the fitting.

  1. It starts with a few details from you.
  2. At the design visit we measure up and agree the layout and colour.
  3. Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The storage is fitted and scribed to the slopes, and any hand painting is done on site.
  6. Fresh paint needs time to cure, so use the doors and drawers gently at first.

Before fitting day

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit.

If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you.

Questions from Brook Green

Can you fit loft storage to the uneven walls of an older house in Brook Green?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. We also work around skirting boards, picture rails and cornices. Older walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, and the fixings are chosen to suit.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Brook Green?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.

Do you move sockets or add lighting?

No. Electrical work isn’t something we do; it’s a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.

Will eaves storage block the ventilation?

Not if it is planned with care. The storage is planned around the insulation and ventilation behind the knee wall. For worries about existing insulation or vents, ask the people who did the conversion.

Which materials go into your loft storage?

We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.

How long will the loft storage fitting take?

How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Every part is made at our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

Tips worth knowing

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:

  • Check the route up to the loft
  • Look at the insulation and any vents behind the knee wall
  • Choose a calm colour for the loft
  • Tell us about parking at the design visit

When we have finished fitting, the cupboards and drawers are ready. Paint needs time to cure fully, so treat the new finish gently at first. Keep tape and strong cleaners away from it while it settles.

Temperatures in a loft room can swing more than elsewhere. A little ventilation helps. That keeps the storage and the paint in good order.

Could you do it yourself?

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

It’s worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is typically cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is tricky, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
