Loft storage in Bush Hill
A loft room can hold a great deal of storage, if the low spaces are used well. Our loft storage includes eaves cupboards, knee-wall drawers, wardrobes under sloping ceilings and dormer shelving, each shaped to the room. For a home in Bush Hill, it starts with a design visit to measure and talk it through. Most enquiries start with a dormer that isn’t being used and a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised, and the answer is made at our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Around Bush Hill, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the hallway may be wider than in a Victorian terrace, with room for a cupboard by the door. Bays at the front suit a seat with storage below, with a grille so any radiator below keeps heating the room. Eaves cupboards are measured and made for the house you have.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Flat-pack or bespoke?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it’s quick to buy.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t typically do that in an older room.
Common questions about loft storage
Does a conservation area in or near Bush Hill affect fitted furniture?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can need listed building consent from the council. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Grange Park station?
Yes, homes across Enfield and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room.
How long will the loft storage fitting take?
The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. The storage is made at our workshop first, so the time in your home is spent fitting. We work tidily and keep the stairs and landing as clear as we can.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Drawers in the knee wall usually involve more work than simple cupboards, and the finish matters too. Everything is set out in a quote in writing after the visit.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two ways to finish it: spray painted or hand painted. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?
We make the storage in sections sized for the route. We measure the way up not just the room. That way, even a large wardrobe can reach the loft.
How it’s made
Pull-out drawers
Drawers that pull out make the eaves easy to use. Everything is in view when the drawer is open. They’re designed around any access points behind the knee wall.
Hand-painted finish
A hand-painted finish can be done in your home after fitting. It’s easy to touch up if it gets marked. That suits a room in daily use.
Fitted storage in Bush Hill
About 39% of the homes in the streets around Bush Hill went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 20% before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Bush Hill include The Tower (Grade II), less than half a mile south-east. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. About 39% of homes in the streets around Bush Hill date from between 1919 and 1939, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Loft conversions are common in houses of that age, and the eaves can take fitted storage; we build the storage once the loft is converted or boarded.
If your children go to Grange Park Preparatory School or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. For an older house near Grange Park Methodist Church, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. If you live near Enfield Town Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
In a loft room, walls and floors are seldom square. Ready-made pieces show the gaps. We scribe our storage to the slopes and walls, and set it level. Ready-made furniture rarely suits a bay, a box room or a bulkhead over the stairs, and those are common in interwar houses. Fitted furniture is made around them.
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design.

Fitting day, step by step
Every fitting follows the same order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Some interwar and suburban streets have driveways, which can make unloading easier, so it’s worth mentioning at the measuring visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

Related advice
Before and after fitting day
Most of what helps is simple. Here’s what we suggest:
- Make a list of what you want to store in the eaves
- Consider drawers for the deep, low spaces
- Make room so the whole loft can be measured
- Bring paint colours you like to the design visit
When you load the drawers and cupboards, put heavy things low. It helps the runners and keeps the storage working well. Shelves are made for what you told us you’d store.
Keep sharp or very heavy items away from the painted fronts. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.
