Loft storage for homes in Oakleigh Park
Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. Wardrobes under the slope, drawers in the knee wall and shelves in the dormer can all work together. Designed as one, they give the room calm, consistent lines. We design them around what you need to store in Oakleigh Park. People usually come to us about a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room and a boarded loft with no proper shelving, and the answer is built in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Around Oakleigh Park, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, the hallway may be wider than in a Victorian terrace, with room for a cupboard by the door. Bay windows suit seating with drawers or lift-up lids, with a grille so any radiator below keeps heating the room. Eaves cupboards are measured and made for the house you have.
Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it is easier before the furniture is made.

Storage in Oakleigh Park homes: local notes
In the area around Oakleigh Park, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 32%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 23%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 13 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Oakleigh Park. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Strict stopping rules apply on red routes, which TfL runs. If your home in Oakleigh Park is on or near a main road, tell us during the design visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
If you live in a period home close to Church of St John, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. For families living near Queenswell Infant & Nursery School, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home.
Oakleigh Park is in the London Borough of Barnet, about 2 miles south of Finchley. Oakleigh Park is part of the area we cover, and the process is the same everywhere we work. Our work takes in places right across Barnet, large and small.
Postcode districts we cover here for loft storage: N20, N12 and EN4. You’ll find streets here like High Road, Swan Lane and Green Road, and homes on each of them are within our area for loft storage. Oakleigh Park sits close to the A1000. If your home is on one of them, tell us during the design visit, as some main roads have strict stopping rules. Nearby, we also make loft storage in Whetstone (1 mile east), North Finchley (1 mile south), Woodside Park (1 mile south-west), East Barnet (1 mile north-east) and Brunswick Park (1 mile east). Elsewhere in Barnet, we also cover Finchley (2 miles south), Barnet (2 miles north-west), Burnt Oak (4 miles west), East Finchley (2 miles south), Hendon (4 miles south-west) and Edgware (4 miles west).
Around Oakleigh Park
We fit furniture in homes around Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum, Finchley Catholic High School and Three Horseshoes pub and the streets around them. The nearest railway station is Oakleigh Park station, roughly 0.8 miles north of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Francis Skaryna Belarusian Library and Museum (0.9 miles south-west) and Finchley Memorial Hospital (1.4 miles south). Not far away are Darland's Lake and Barfield Allotments Nature Park.
The problems loft storage solve
Boxes, suitcases and seasonal things need a home. Cupboards behind the knee wall hide them away. It keeps the room tidy.
Here’s what loft storage can help with:
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
- Needing storage in a loft office
- Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
Living in a block of flats near Oakleigh Park station? Then eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- How they deal with uneven walls and floors
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
- How the doors are hung and adjusted
- Where they’ll park and unload

Flats, conversions and lettings
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.
If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
FAQs: loft storage in Oakleigh Park
Is Oakleigh Park in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes, we work across Barnet, Oakleigh Park included, and across the rest of London. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Oakleigh Park?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need it. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
How much does loft storage cost?
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. For a quote, message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Will eaves storage block the ventilation?
Not when it is planned well. At the design visit we check what’s there and leave the space it needs. We do not alter insulation or vents.
How it’s made
Doors and drawer fronts
We make the fronts from moisture-resistant MDF and finish them in the colour you choose. The angled fronts match the ceiling, so the gaps stay even all the way along.
Hand-painted finish
Some people prefer a hand-painted finish for its softer look. It can be applied on site, in a colour agreed with you. It can be matched to the room’s woodwork.
Fitting day, step by step
The last stage of the day is the finish. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors are covered from the door to the room, and the sections are assembled in place.
- You let us know about your converted or boarded loft.
- We measure the eaves, the slopes and the stairs up to the loft, as everything has to get up there.
- The design is agreed and a written quote follows, with the finish set out.
- Every part is made at our workshop, ready for a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
- The storage is fitted, scribed to the slopes and checked with you.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
How to get a quote
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. Afterwards, we send a written quote, so you can take your time with it. To book one, use our contact form.
Advice
What affects the cost of loft storage
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- The number of doors and drawers
- The width and height of the space
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space.
Helping us understand the room
To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Examples of the look you are after
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
To make a start, message us from the contact page and tell us which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a quote in writing afterwards.
