Osidge Loft Storage
In Osidge, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. Your eaves cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.
- A converted loft with no fitted furniture
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
- Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
Loft storage in Osidge
About our loft storage in Osidge
Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. We don’t carry out loft conversions, and Building Regulations apply to a conversion. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. In Osidge, it all begins with a design visit. We make eaves cupboards from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are boxes piled on loft boards and a loft room with too many jobs.
In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around Osidge, many have had the loft converted, leaving low eaves and sloping ceilings. Fitted storage can make use of the eaves, the bay or the hall. We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded.
We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we’ve measured the way in.
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so each section is sized to get through.
Pricing loft storage in Osidge
Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Parking near your home
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Before the design visit
To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and discuss the design with you, and the written quote comes after. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To book a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Common questions about loft storage
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Osidge?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Osidge?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character may need listed building consent from the council. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
Is it possible to fit a wardrobe under the slope?
Yes. The wardrobe follows the angle of the ceiling, with hanging where there is height. It uses the full height of the room. We plan it at the measuring visit.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician. We will design around them.
Does eaves storage affect the insulation?
A good design avoids that. At the design visit we check what’s there and leave the space it needs. We don’t alter insulation or vents.
Making use of awkward spaces in Osidge
In the neighbourhood around Osidge, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 52%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 14%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how eaves cupboards are fixed and fitted. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Osidge include Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles west, and Church of St Andrew (Grade II), less than half a mile east. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for example removing original joinery or fixing into it, can need listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. About 52% of homes in the streets around Osidge date from between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Many interwar houses have had their lofts converted, leaving sloping ceilings and eaves to use.
If you live in a period home close to St Andrew's Church, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. For families living near Monkfrith Primary School, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit.

How fitting day works
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and answer any questions. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so it is worth mentioning at the measuring visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.
- You tell us about your converted or boarded loft, including the eaves and any dormer.
- At the design visit, the room and the route up are measured, as everything has to get up there.
- We agree the cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and send a quote in writing, with the finish set out.
- Every part is made at our workshop, ready for a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. It’s made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We carry it up, fit it and check every door and drawer with you. Any hand painting is done in the loft.
Before fitting day
- Empty the space we will be working in
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
Arranging a design visit
The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A quote in writing follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To book one, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Advice
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.
It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture usually costs less up front. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.
Do you need loft storage in Osidge?
A dormer can feel like wasted space. Built-in furniture in a dormer puts it to work. It adds storage without crowding the room.
Here are some of the needs we are asked about most:
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
- No wardrobe that fits under the slope
- A boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised
- Needing storage in a loft office
Close to Oak Hill Park? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.
Before you choose who makes it
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?
- How parking will work on your street
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
