Flats, leases and landlords

We also make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let, as it makes good use of an tricky room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray or hand-painted finish.

Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, and we’ll plan the fitting around them.

How we make TV and media units for South Tottenham

TV units are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The finish is spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in the colour you prefer. We fit across Haringey and the rest of London, after a design visit and a written quote. If your home has a tangle of wires behind the TV and bought furniture that doesn’t suit the room, TV and media units made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

In a house from the Victorian or Edwardian years, the front room typically keeps its chimney breast even where the fireplace has gone. Around South Tottenham, where a large share of homes date from before 1919, that is a common starting point. The recesses either side take TV and media units scribed to the plaster and cut around the skirting.

Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made in our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

What TV and media units cannot fix

Not everything around TV and media units is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe registered engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:

  • Configuring the TV and sound system
  • Repairing plaster or redecorating
  • Removing a chimney breast or any structural work

TV and media units in South Tottenham: local notes

Homes built before 1919 make up about 46% of the housing in the streets around South Tottenham, with about 20% built since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how TV and media units are fixed and fitted. The centre of South Tottenham is within about a quarter of a mile of the Seven Sisters and Page Green, Tottenham High Road Hist Corr Conservation Area. Conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. TfL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every part of London, Haringey included. Vans bringing furniture to South Tottenham fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. How the van gets to your door is planned during the design visit.

For a flat near Seven Sisters station, the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Parish Church of St Ann, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. If your home is one of the older houses near Church of Holy Trinity, picture rails and cornices give TV and media units a line to finish at.

Common questions about TV and media units

I live near Seven Sisters station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Haringey and the rest of London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Can you fit TV and media units to the uneven walls of an older house in South Tottenham?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

Do pictures help?

Yes, they help. Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling, give us a good idea of the space. You can send them when you drop us a line using the contact form.

What affects the price of TV and media units?

Size, doors and drawers, what goes inside and the finish all affect it, along with access and parking. The price comes in a quote in writing after the design visit.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch.

Who moves the sockets for a built-in TV wall?

Electrical work is not something we do. Your electrician handles sockets and wiring, and Part P of the Building Regulations covers some electrical work in homes. We share the layout so the sockets line up with the design.

Flat-pack or bespoke?

It’s worth being honest about cost: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.

The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot normally do that in an older room.

Fitting day, step by step

In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it sits neatly against the room. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Older London houses often have narrow hallways and tight turns on the stairs, so TV and media units are made in sections sized to get through. Floors, stairs and doorways are covered before anything is carried through, and the sections are joined and scribed in the room.

  1. You get in touch about a built-in TV unit.
  2. At the design visit, we measure the wall and plan the screen space, cable routes and ventilation with you.
  3. We send a written quote with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The unit is made at our workshop, with cable routes and vents built in.
  5. Fitting day: the unit goes in, is levelled and scribed, and the cable routes are left clear.
