TV and media units for your home in White City
What affects the price in White City
What you pay depends on:
- The number of doors and drawers
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- The overall size of the piece
- Parking and unloading on your street
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.
Before the design visit
Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
About our TV and media units in White City
Hiding the cables is often the main aim. We plan cable routes through the unit from the start, with openings and removable panels so you can add or swap leads later. We make the routes, and your electrician handles any wiring. We make TV and media units from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are a tangle of wires behind the TV and bought furniture that doesn’t suit the room.
London homes run from Victorian terraces and interwar semis to mansion blocks and recent flats, and your home in White City could be any one of them. Because walls and floors change with the age of a house, the design of TV and media units starts at the measuring visit. A period house may need scribing to bowed walls, while a newer flat may need fixings for plasterboard.
Everything we agree during the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it is easier before the furniture is made.

More for homes in White City
Is bespoke worth it?
TVs keep getting bigger, and a stand chosen for today’s set may not suit the next. We can leave room for a larger screen if you expect to upgrade. Gaps behind, beside and above ready-made furniture collect dust, and fitted furniture closes them, which makes cleaning simpler.
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.
What you get with us

Do you need TV and media units in White City?
Games, controllers and remotes need a home. Drawers and cupboards hold them out of sight.
Most of the enquiries we get are about things like these:
- Games, controllers and remotes everywhere
- Nowhere good for speakers
- Leads that show from every angle
- A screen at the wrong height
If you live in a period home close to St Michael and St George, picture rails and cornices give TV and media units a line to finish at.
Choosing a carpenter
- Is it spray painted or hand painted?
- How parking will work on your street
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?

How it’s made
Doors and drawer fronts
Drawers keep controllers and games tidy. They’re painted in the same colour as the rest.
Plinths and scribe strips
In older houses, we usually scribe the sides and top. It makes the unit look built in.
Questions we’re often asked
Is White City in the area you cover for TV and media units?
Yes, we work across Hammersmith and Fulham, White City included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
What happens when you come to measure?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and talk through the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a written quote.
Where should speakers go in a TV unit?
Speakers work best in open spaces rather than behind doors. A shelf under the TV suits a soundbar with open bays for bigger speakers. Bring the sizes to the design visit.
How long does it take to fit a TV unit?
The time on site depends on the size of the unit and how many cupboards and shelves it has, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. We’ll talk you through what to expect beforehand.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Fitting day, step by step
In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the unit and the cable routes planned into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift not just the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- You send us a note about the room and the unit you’d like.
- At the design visit we agree the layout and talk about colour and finish.
- A written quote follows, with the finish set out.
- The unit is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which takes paint well, and birch plywood.
- We fit it in your home; a hand-painted finish is applied once it is in and is easy to touch up later.
How to prepare
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Pictures help us understand the room before we visit. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space. To share them, use our contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.
