Fitted home offices in White City: what you get

Each home office is made in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood gives the desk and shelving their strength, and MDF gives the doors and panels a smooth surface for paint. It is then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in White City. People usually come to us about a room with two jobs to do and a screen that’s hard to read by the window; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Homes in an area like White City can come from many different periods, so the place for a desk could be an alcove, a box room, a landing or a converted loft. We look at the options at the measuring visit. Walls could be brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard, so fixings are chosen for each one.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Questions we are often asked

Is parking a problem for fitting in White City?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.

Do you cover homes near Shepherds Bush station?

Yes, homes across Hammersmith and Fulham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room.

Can you add power points to the desk?

That’s work for your electrician. The furniture is designed to suit, with routes for chargers and screens. They can then be fitted where we’ve allowed for them.

What if my walls and floors are out of level?

Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.

What materials do you use for home offices?

The office is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The desk, shelves and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.

How long is the fitting for a home office?

The time the fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We make the desk and storage in our workshop, so the time at your home is spent fitting. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

Looking after your furniture

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. Here are some things worth bearing in mind:

  • Tell us about parking at the design visit
  • Note the position of sockets in the room
  • Measure your chair and how much room you need behind it
  • Estimate the shelf space you will need

We run each drawer and open each door with you before we go. We’ll show you the cable routes and how they’re meant to be used. That way, you can start work straight away.

Keep the chair from knocking the desk edge. Pushing it in gently helps. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, once we’ve measured the way in.

Honest limits

We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:

  • Setting up computers, screens or networks
  • Making good the walls, which is for a plasterer or decorator
  • Turning an unconverted loft into a room

Not sure whether your space suits fitted home offices? You can drop us a line using the contact form and we will tell you before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

Fitted home offices for homes in White City

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around White City were built before 1919 (about 43%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 18%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of White City include Building Adjoining to West of Harrow Club (Grade II), under half a mile east, and Harrow Club (Grade II), under half a mile east. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can require listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. More than a third of the homes in the neighbourhood around White City (about 43%) were built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. In older houses, an alcove or a small back bedroom often makes a good place for a built-in desk.

Living in a block of flats near Shepherds Bush station? Then the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it. For families living near Ark Swift Primary Academy, a desk long enough for two can serve a laptop and a homework book side by side. The wider area includes historic houses such as Leighton House, about 1.3 miles south-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, an alcove beside the chimney breast is often just right for a built-in desk.

How it’s made

Shelves

Shelves in a home office carry books, files and folders. Span, depth and load all matter. We size each shelf to carry its load without sagging.

Birch plywood

Shelves full of books and files carry real weight. We use birch plywood for shelves that carry a load. Where the span is long, we add thickness or support.

From workshop to your room

When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. Next, we carry in the sections built in our workshop. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. For a flat, building rules and lift booking are worth checking early; if you live in a house, let us know about steps, paths and parking. We plan the details of the day at the measuring visit. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. To begin, get in touch through our contact form; a brief note on the room and your desk set-up is plenty.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room, agree the desk height and depth and plan cable routes to the sockets. New sockets or wiring are a job for your electrician, ideally before fitting.
  3. You receive a quote in writing for the office.
  4. We make the desk and storage in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with cable holes and routes built in.
  5. The desk and shelves are fitted, with the cable routes ready for your equipment.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
