Angell Town homes and walk-in wardrobes
In the area around Angell Town, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 38%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 19%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Angell Town, Historic England’s list includes Church of St John the Divine (Grade I), about 0.6 miles north, and Christ Church (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles north. If your own home is listed, internal works that affect its character, such as fixing into or removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Purpose-built flats are home to about 60% of households in the streets around Angell Town, based on Census 2021. In a block, each section is sized to get up the stairs or into the lift and through the door. Many blocks have rules on lift booking and working hours, so check with the managing agent before fitting day.
For a family home near St John's Angell Town Church of England Primary School, walk-in wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. If you live in a flat close to Loughborough Junction station, it’s useful to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. If you live near Max Roach Park, morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window.

About our walk-in wardrobes in Angell Town
A walk-in wardrobe can also be part of a bedroom. A corner or one end of a large bedroom can become a dressing area, either open to the room or behind doors. Any new partition wall is for your builder, and we fit the furniture inside. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and people most often get in touch about a walk-in wardrobe in a box room and separate space for two people’s clothes.
With most households around Angell Town in purpose-built flats, mansion blocks and modern blocks are both possible. In a mansion block, bedrooms often keep their chimney breasts and tall ceilings, while a newer flat is more likely to have plasterboard walls. Either way, walk-in wardrobes are fixed to suit the wall.

Questions we are often asked
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Loughborough Junction station?
Yes, homes across Lambeth and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with a few details about the room.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Angell Town?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, so we can plan the day around it.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
Often, yes. The layout depends on the room, the door and the window, so we work it out when we measure.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Do you move sockets or add lighting?
No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.
What affects the price in Angell Town
What you pay depends on:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- How big the furniture is
In London, parking can affect the price. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. It’s useful to talk about parking at the measuring visit.
What we need to know
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Rough sizes: width, height and depth
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
Fitting day, step by step
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference. After that, it is fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that is solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Noise from drilling travels in a block, so neighbours may appreciate a note, and some buildings set hours for noisy work. We plan the day to suit those rules. Saturday work is by prior arrangement where the building permits it.
- First, you tell us about the space and how you dress.
- We visit, measure up and plan the layout with you.
- You get a written quote for the design we’ve agreed, for you to read through.
- The units are made in our workshop.
- The units are fitted in your home and trimmed to follow the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
Preparing the room
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
Starting with a design visit
To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and tell us a little about the room and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and a quote in writing follows.

Looking after your furniture
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after. These habits help most:
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Keep the room ventilated
- Think about long versus double hanging
- Plan lighting with your electrician
Store heavy things on lower shelves and spread the weight along the rails. That keeps the hanging and shelves in good shape.
Deal with any damp before the units go in. Cooler external walls can lead to condensation, and ventilation inside the units helps.
Why bespoke in Angell Town?
Off-the-shelf wardrobe systems are quicker to get and usually cost less, and in a simple room they may suit. Where walls lean and floors slope, they rarely fit neatly. A bespoke walk-in wardrobe is made to the room. Ready-made furniture stops at a set height, whatever the ceiling, so storage is lost at the top. Built-in pieces use the full height.
What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside, and the quote follows.

Flats, leases and landlords
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations. We cannot give advice on leases.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways along with the room itself, so each section is sized to get through.
