Walk-in wardrobes in Cubitt Town
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Cubitt Town
Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Cubitt Town and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and plan the layout, followed by a quote. Everything is built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the usual reasons to get in touch are more space for clothes and shoes and a bedroom without crowded wardrobes.
Many newer homes have tall windows or full-height glazing in the bedroom, so the remaining walls have to work harder. That’s worth planning for around Cubitt Town, where many homes date from 2000 onwards, and fitted furniture can use every part of the solid walls. Corners are designed in rather than left as dead space.
Once you have read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made in our workshop. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so every detail can be checked first.

How fitting works for walk-in wardrobes
In older rooms, the furniture normally has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Stud walls can carry pipes and cables, so we check before drilling, with heavier pieces tied into the studs. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber.
- You tell us about the room and what you want to store.
- We visit to measure up and go through the layout, including any dressing table.
- We send a written quote with the design, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
- We build everything in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Modular units are made in fixed sizes, so the space above and at the ends is often wasted. A bespoke design can run to the ceiling and fill the walls, which can add a lot of storage. In a compact new-build room, standard sizes rarely fit the walls exactly, and fitted furniture uses that space. It works around service boxing too.
Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Bedroom storage in Cubitt Town
About 67% of the homes in the area around Cubitt Town went up since 2000, and about 17% between 1973 and 1999, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. A conservation area lies within about a quarter of a mile of the centre of Cubitt Town, going by Historic England’s data. Fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. Your council can advise if you’re unsure. About 67% of homes around Cubitt Town were built since 2000, well above the figure for Tower Hamlets as a whole, about 45%, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.
For families living near Cubitt Town Infants' School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Christ Church, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. For an older house near Christ Church, tall ceilings give walk-in wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

Looking after your furniture
Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. Beyond that, these tips help:
- Know what you’ll keep before planning
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Let air move through the space
- Give the paint time to cure fully
Doors are hung and adjusted when we fit them. Walls and floors shift slightly through the year, so hinges allow small adjustments later.
Deal with any damp before the units go in. Cooler external walls can lead to condensation, and ventilation inside the units helps.
What affects the price in Cubitt Town
To work out the quote, we look at:
- The number of doors and drawers
- Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- How big the furniture is
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay. Tell us about parking at the design visit.
What we need to know
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- How you want to use the space
- Examples of the look you’re after
It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space. To send them over, send us a few details through our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.
Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Cubitt Town
How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in Cubitt Town?
At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Cubitt Town?
Yes, Cubitt Town is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
In many cases, yes. It depends on the room’s shape and where the door and window sit, so we work it out when we measure.
How long does fitting take?
Every room is different. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and a written quote follows.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
It is something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so it sits tight to the room.
