How we make walk-in wardrobes for Lewisham
Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Lewisham and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and plan the layout, followed by a quote. Once agreed, we make the units in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We make walk-in wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are a dressing area in part of a bedroom and room for two wardrobes in one space.
The positions of the window, the radiator and the door shape a bedroom more than its size. Whatever kind of home you have in Lewisham, we start there, then plan fitted furniture on the walls that are left. Furniture is kept clear of radiators so the room stays warm.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

When is bespoke worth it?
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s usually a gap left over at the top or at one end. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

FAQs: walk-in wardrobes in Lewisham
How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in Lewisham?
At the design visit, we measure the way in along with the room itself. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Do you cover homes near Lewisham station?
Yes, homes across London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
What happens when you come to measure?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We will also ask about access and parking, and a written quote follows.
Do I get to choose the colour?
You choose it, and it’s agreed with you before painting. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you’ve chosen.
How is the furniture painted?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Flats, leases and landlords
Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the measuring visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you contact us.
What walk-in wardrobes cannot fix
We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:
- Fixing the cause of damp
- New lights or sockets
- Lease checks, which are for you and your building’s managers

Fitting day, step by step
With the carcasses fixed and level, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Before fitting day, we check the route in as well as the room, so the furniture comes in sections sized for the route. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.
- It starts with a short note from you.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
- A quote in writing follows.
- We make the walk-in wardrobe in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the units and trim the edges to meet the walls and ceiling.
- Before we leave we go through the doors and drawers with you; new paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.
Before we arrive
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
