Walk-in wardrobes in Rotherhithe: what you get
Most designs start with the hanging. Long hanging suits coats and dresses, while double hanging, one rail above another, fits shirts and jackets into half the height. We plan the mix around what you actually wear. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are a walk-in wardrobe in a box room and somewhere to sit and get ready.
A large number of homes around Rotherhithe date from 2000 onwards, and in London many homes of that age are flats with compact bedrooms. In a compact bedroom, fitted furniture that reaches the ceiling and uses the corners makes the most difference. Boxing for pipes and risers is designed around rather than left as dead space.
Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Rotherhithe
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Rotherhithe?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
Is Rotherhithe in the area you cover for walk-in wardrobes?
Yes, Rotherhithe is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Southwark and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Do photos help?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
Do I need the building owner’s consent?
Possibly. A lease can require consent for alterations, including fixing furniture to the walls. We can’t advise on leases, so please check yours.
What walk-in wardrobes cannot fix
Before you plan the job, it is useful to know what we don’t do:
- Making good walls and ceilings
- Curing damp in the walls
- Electrical work in the room

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Rotherhithe
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:
- The overall size of the piece
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Parking and unloading on your street
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
What we need to know
You do not need exact measurements or a plan. It’s enough to send:
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
To get a quote for walk-in wardrobes in Rotherhithe, tell us about the room on our contact form. Let us know which room it is and roughly what you have in mind. Next comes a design visit, followed by a quote in writing.
Why bespoke in Rotherhithe?
Ready-made wardrobe systems are easy to buy and often cheaper, and in a square room they can work. In an older room with uneven walls and a sloping floor, they leave gaps. A bespoke walk-in wardrobe is made to the room. Separate ready-made pieces can make an open-plan room feel unplanned, whereas fitted furniture can define each part of the room.
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside.
Why us?
- Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- Built around your room
- Scribed to uneven walls
- A design visit, then a written quote

How fitting day works
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Newer developments sometimes have their own parking and loading rules, so it helps to let us know during the design visit. The furniture comes in sections and is fixed in place. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and what you want to store.
- We come to measure the room and go through how the space should work.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- Everything is made and finished in our workshop.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.
Before fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
Getting a quote
Rough sizes are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit. To get started, message us from the contact page and tell us about the room. The written quote follows the visit.
Advice
Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Rotherhithe
In the streets around Rotherhithe, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 39%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 34%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 23 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Rotherhithe. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and walk-in wardrobes can be designed to work around them. TfL’s red routes have strict stopping rules. If you live on or close to a main road in Rotherhithe, let us know at the measuring visit. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
The wider area includes historic houses like Queen's House, about 2.1 miles south-east. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. For an older house near Holy Trinity Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. For a family home near Alfred Salter Primary School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.
