Walk-in Wardrobes in Surrey Quays
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. Our work on walk-in wardrobes in Surrey Quays starts with a design visit, and everything is built in our workshop.

Walk-in wardrobes in Surrey Quays: what you get
We fit walk-in wardrobes in Surrey Quays and across London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, followed by a quote. Once agreed, we make the units in our workshop and fit them in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. If you’re living with more space for clothes and shoes and the right mix of long and short hanging, walk-in wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.
In a compact bedroom, the swing of hinged doors can clash with the bed, so the layout and the kind of door are worked out together. Around Surrey Quays, many homes date from 2000 onwards, and newer bedrooms tend to be on the small side. The space in front is measured as carefully as the wall.
You get the quote in writing, so there’s time to read it properly. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Why people ask for walk-in wardrobes in Surrey Quays
Sometimes a house changes and a room becomes spare. Many people choose to fit it out as a dressing room.
A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:
- The right mix of long and short hanging
- Somewhere for shoes to live
- Room for a growing wardrobe
- A walk-in wardrobe in a box room
If your children go to Rotherhithe Primary School or a school nearby, the inside of walk-in wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- A quote in writing that sets out the job
- Where they’ll park and unload
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- How the furniture will be finished, and where
Questions from Surrey Quays
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Surrey Quays?
Yes, we work across Southwark, Surrey Quays included, and across the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Surrey Quays?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Do photos help?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, but it is useful to be around at the end.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. We agree the colour with you, and it’s set out in the quote.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
In many homes, yes. A box room can take hanging, shelves and drawers on its walls and still leave room to move. We check the room at the measuring visit.

Fitting day, step by step
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and fitting day is where that happens. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so it helps to let us know during the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You tell us about the room and what you want to store, from long coats to shoes.
- We visit to measure up and go through the layout.
- A quote follows, setting out the design and finish, ready for you to check.
- The units are made and finished in our workshop.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.
How to prepare
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
- Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
How to get a quote
We quote once we have seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To book a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Materials and finishes
Doors and drawer fronts
A dressing table with drawers can be built in if the room allows.
Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters for drawers and long shelves. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.
What walk-in wardrobes can’t fix
Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, so these points are worth knowing:
- Getting consent under your lease
- Electrical work in the room
- Damp treatment or repairs
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Standard systems come in set widths and heights, so the space above and at the ends is often wasted. A bespoke design can run to the ceiling and fill the walls, which can add a lot of storage. In a compact new-build room, standard sizes rarely fit the walls exactly, and fitted furniture uses that space. It can also be planned around boxed-in pipes and risers.
Rooms that aren’t square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That is reflected in the quote.
