Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Spring Park
Walk-in wardrobes in Spring Park: what you get
Hanging space is the heart of most walk-in wardrobes. Full-length hanging takes coats, dresses and long garments, and two rails stacked one above the other suit shirts, jackets and trousers. The balance of long and double hanging is based on your clothes. If your home has a calmer, clearer bedroom and somewhere to sit and get ready, that’s what walk-in wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Many 1930s houses have had a loft conversion, adding a bedroom under a sloping ceiling, and the slope can take storage cut to its angle. Around Spring Park, interwar houses, semis and detached homes make up a large part of the housing. Our part starts once the loft has been converted, and the furniture is scribed to the slope and the walls.
If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
A bespoke walk-in wardrobe takes more planning than buying a system, and it costs more. In return, the layout is built around your clothes and your room. Ready-made units come in standard depths that rarely suit every space, so they can stick out too far or waste space behind. Fitted furniture is made to the depth the space can take.
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.

Take a look at bespoke vs off-the-shelf or how to compare quotes.
Flat-pack or bespoke?
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths.
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

Walk-in wardrobes in Spring Park: local notes
In the streets around Spring Park, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 62%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Spring Park include Church of All Saints (Grade II), under half a mile south, and The White Lodge (Grade II), less than half a mile north-east. If your own home is listed, changes inside that alter its character, like fixing into or removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. More than half of the homes in the area around Spring Park (about 62%) date from between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Many interwar houses have a small room over the stairs, a good spot for fitted furniture built around the bulkhead.
For a family home near Forest Academy, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. Addington Palace, about 1.3 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go. Close to Millers Pond? A bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Spring Park
Can you fit furniture in a home close to West Wickham station?
Yes, homes across Croydon and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can get in touch through our contact form with some details about the room.
Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Spring Park?
Yes. Spring Park is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Croydon and London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a written quote.
My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?
That is normal in older homes, and it is what scribing is for. Edges are scribed to the wall, and adjustable feet or a plinth bring the furniture up to level.
Can you turn a small spare room into a dressing room?
Often, yes. It depends on the room’s shape and where the door and window sit. We plan it at the design visit.
How much time does fitting need?
The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We will talk it through at the measuring visit.
Fitting day, step by step
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, then checked again. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so let us know at the measuring visit. Otherwise, a visitor permit or a nearby bay helps. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.
- We start with the space and the clothes it needs to hold.
- We visit to measure up and go through the layout, including any dressing table.
- A quote follows, setting out the design and finish, ready for you to check.
- We build everything in our workshop.
- We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. We then check the doors and drawers with you.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
Getting a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, use our contact form.

Tips worth knowing
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Plan lighting with your electrician
- Sort through your clothes before the design visit
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Give the paint time to cure fully
Store heavy things on lower shelves and spread the weight along the rails. It helps the shelves and rails stay straight.
Talk to your electrician early about lighting. Wiring is their work, not ours, and it is easier to plan the units around it from the start.
