Bespoke kitchens in Crofton Park

A kitchen needs other trades as well as a carpenter. Your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics, so the design allows for pipes, cables and connections. We make kitchens from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are cabinets built around the appliances you choose and a painted dresser for the kitchen.

Narrow hallways in Victorian and Edwardian terraces set limits on how long a cabinet or panel can be. Around Crofton Park, a large share of homes were built before 1919, so we measure the route to the kitchen not just the room. Long runs are made in sections and joined on site, with the joins placed where they won’t show.

Everything we agree during the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Kitchens in Crofton Park homes

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Crofton Park were built before 1919 (about 57%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 12%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how kitchens are fixed and fitted. The National Heritage List records 11 entries within half a mile of the centre of Crofton Park. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Crofton Park is covered by it. We go through parking and access at the design visit.

If you live in a period home close to Church of St Hilda, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. Living in a block of flats near Crofton Park station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Why bespoke in Crofton Park?

Ready-made kitchens are widely available and often cheaper, and in a square modern room they can work well. In an older house with uneven walls, they tend to need filler panels and leave gaps. Bespoke is a bigger investment, built around the space you have. Chimney breasts in older houses stand out by different amounts, so the recesses either side are rarely the same, and standard units bought as a pair rarely suit both. Fitted furniture is made to each one separately.

There is no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, talk through the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

What it’s made from

Spray-painted finish

A spray-painted finish is applied in our workshop, giving a smooth, even surface.

Moisture-resistant MDF

MDF gives a smooth surface for painted doors, and the moisture-resistant grade suits a kitchen.

What happens on fitting day

You’re welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made at the design visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving everything tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Older London houses often have narrow hallways and tight turns on the stairs, so kitchens are made in sections sized to get through. Floors and stair carpets are protected on the way in and out, and the sections are joined and scribed in the room.

  1. You let us know about the kitchen and where it is in your home.
  2. We visit to plan the layout and check how the cabinets will get into the room. Let us know about parking too, as a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension.
  3. A written quote follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. In our workshop we build the kitchen from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in pieces that suit the route in.
  5. We carry everything in and fit the cabinets, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

How to prepare

  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Tell us about parking near your home

Advice

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Crofton Park

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Crofton Park?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.

My home in Crofton Park is a period house with walls that are not straight. Is that a problem?

Yes. Walls in older houses are rarely flat or square, and floors are often out of level, so each piece is scribed to follow the wall and set level on a plinth or adjustable feet. We also work around skirting boards, picture rails and cornices. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

What are your kitchens made from?

We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.

Where is the furniture made?

We make it in our workshop, to the sizes taken during the design visit. Then we bring it to your home and fit it.

Do you fit furniture for landlords?

Yes. Landlords and letting agents can arrange a design visit in the same way as anyone else. Access has to be agreed with the tenants.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you contact us.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you contact us.

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.

What prompts bespoke kitchens in Crofton Park

Uneven walls and floors make standard kitchens hard to fit. Gaps and wavy lines are hard to hide, while scribed and levelled cabinets keep the lines true.

People typically get in touch with us about needs like these:

  • Cabinets built around the appliances you choose
  • Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
  • A larder for food and small appliances
  • An island where space allows

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of St Hilda, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Before you choose who makes it

  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • Whether you’ll get a quote in writing, not just a figure
  • Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
  • Will they visit to measure before quoting?
