Bespoke Kitchens in Finsbury

In Finsbury, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. We design your kitchen at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:

  • How big the furniture is
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • Parking near your home
  • Doors and drawers, and how many

Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, which the quote allows for. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit.

What we need to know

Before the design visit, it helps us to know about:

  • Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • The type of home and how the room is reached

To make a start, drop us a line using the contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Bespoke kitchens in Finsbury

You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and we design the cabinets around them. We plan each space around the appliances you’ve chosen, from the oven housing to the dishwasher. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote. If your home has an island where space allows and a kitchen planned around your appliances, kitchens made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.

Many homes around Finsbury were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are flats with compact kitchens. Made-to-measure cabinets use the gaps a standard kitchen leaves. Boxed-in pipes and risers are built around.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the kitchen we’ve designed for the room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and the workshop works from it.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We can’t advise on your lease.

If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so each section is sized to get through without a struggle.

Kitchens in Finsbury homes

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Finsbury were built since 2000 (about 36%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 33%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Finsbury, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Giles (Grade I), less than half a mile south, and Wesley's Chapel (Grade I), less than half a mile east. For a listed home, works inside that affect its character can need listed building consent from the council, for instance removing or fixing into original panelling. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. Controlled parking zones cover much of inner London, and each borough runs its own. For fitting in Finsbury, a van normally needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know about parking near your home during the design visit.

The wider area includes historic houses like Mansion House, about 0.6 miles south. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. For a family home near Prior Weston Primary School and Children's Centre, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off. Living in a block of flats near Old Street station? Then kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Finsbury is about 2 miles north of Highbury, in the London Borough of Islington. Design visits and fitting in Finsbury can be on a Saturday, by prior arrangement. Our Islington coverage includes Finsbury, along with the rest of the borough.

We cover every part of EC1V, N1 and EC2A for bespoke kitchens. If your home is on a street like Oat Lane, Long Lane and Love Lane, or close by, we can visit to measure up for bespoke kitchens. The A1 and A501 run close to Finsbury, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you contact us. Neighbouring places we cover for bespoke kitchens include St Luke's (1 mile north), Barbican Estate (1 mile south), City of London (1 mile south), Bishopsgate (1 mile south-east) and Shoreditch (1 mile east). Elsewhere in Islington, we also cover Highbury (2 miles north), Barnsbury (2 miles north-west), Holloway (3 miles north-west), Mildmay (2 miles north), Upper Holloway (3 miles north-west) and Nag's Head (3 miles north-west). Finsbury is one of the larger places we cover in Islington.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Ready-made cabinets often have chipboard carcasses. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in colours you choose, finished to suit the room. In a newer flat, big flat-pack units can be hard to get into the lift or through the door, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections that fit. It is then assembled and fixed in the room.

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Why choose us

Questions we are often asked

I live near Old Street station. Is that in your area?

Yes. We cover all of Islington and the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

How do you fit bespoke kitchens in a flat in Finsbury?

At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. For a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

How long does fitting take?

Every kitchen is different. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote.

Will you connect the sink and appliances?

No, that work is for other trades. Your plumber connects the sink and dishwasher, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register handles any gas, and your electrician does the wiring, while we make and fit the cabinets.

Do pictures help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough sizes. You can send them when you use our contact form.

What happens on fitting day

There is not much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Stud walls can carry pipes and cables, so we check before drilling, with heavier pieces tied into the studs. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber, ideally before fitting day.

  1. You tell us about the kitchen and where it is in your home.
  2. We visit to plan the layout and check how the cabinets will get into the room. Let us know about parking too, as a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension.
  3. We send a quote in writing.
  4. In our workshop we build the kitchen from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in pieces that suit the route in.
  5. We carry everything in and fit the cabinets, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

How to prepare

  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings

Starting with a design visit

We quote once we’ve seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a quote in writing. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To book a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.
