Boards, parts and paint
Moisture-resistant MDF
A painted MDF door looks crisp and even, and the moisture-resistant grade suits a kitchen.
Plinths and scribe strips
We use plinths and adjustable feet to level the units on a sloping floor. Scribe strips follow the wall.
How we make bespoke kitchens for Haggerston
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. We plan each space around the appliances you have chosen, so everything fits as it should. Your quote sets out the materials and finish. Most enquiries start with tall larder storage and a kitchen for a room that isn’t square, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
A newer kitchen may have a wide glazed door or a big window on one wall, so storage has to be planned around the glass. With many homes around Haggerston built since 2000, tall larders and a peninsula, where there’s room, can make up the storage. Wall cabinets are fixed into the studs or with fixings made for the board.
A written quote follows the design visit. It sets out the design we have talked through, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Kitchens in Haggerston: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Haggerston were built since 2000 (about 35%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 31%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. There are 101 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Haggerston. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Purpose-built flats are more common around Haggerston than across Hackney: about 79% of households, against about 60%, according to Census 2021. That puts the stairs, lifts and doors on the route in at the centre of the plan.
The wider area includes historic houses such as Sutton House, about 1.5 miles north-east. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. If you live near Haggerston Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Haggerston
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Haggerston?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Is Haggerston in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes. We cover all of Hackney and the rest of London, and Haggerston is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
What happens at the design visit?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and a quote in writing follows.
How are bespoke kitchens priced?
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A small galley and a large kitchen with a larder and island are very different jobs, so we quote once we have measured. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.
Flats, leases and landlords
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, so fitting day is planned around them.
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. At the design visit, we measure the stairs, the landings, any lift and the doors, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.
How fitting day works
Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a newer development, the lift, the concierge and set working hours may all need checking, so check them with the managing agent before fitting day. Kitchens are made in sections sized for the lift and doors.
- We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold.
- We visit to measure and go through the design and storage. We note where the water, gas and sockets are now.
- We send a quote in writing setting out the cabinets, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- Fitting day: we fit the cabinets, and your plumber, electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register handle the services. We do not arrange these trades ourselves.
How to prepare
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

What prompts bespoke kitchens in Haggerston
Uneven walls and floors make standard kitchens hard to fit. Gaps and wavy lines are hard to hide, while scribed and levelled cabinets keep the lines true.
Here are some of the needs we’re asked about most:
- A central island in a larger kitchen
- Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
- More storage in a small kitchen
- A kitchen for a room that is not square
For families living near Randal Cremer Primary School, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen.
Before you choose who makes it
