About our bespoke kitchens in Plaistow

We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Each cabinet is made to the real measurements of your walls, floor and ceiling, so there are no filler panels covering tricky gaps. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you before anything is made at our workshop. People typically come to us about room for everything in the kitchen and a kitchen planned around your appliances, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

In a part of London with mixed housing, like much of the city, floors, walls and ceilings vary from one home to the next. Every cabinet is levelled and scribed so the lines run straight. Moisture-resistant MDF suits a kitchen, and the finish is agreed in your quote.

The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Plaistow

I live near West Ham station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.

Is Plaistow in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?

Yes, we work across Newham, Plaistow included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with some details.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.

What does a bespoke kitchen cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A small galley and a large kitchen with a larder and island are very different jobs, so we quote once we have measured. To get started, drop us a line using the contact form.

Where other trades come in

As carpenters, we leave some work to other trades. It helps to know these before you plan the job:

  • Connecting a gas hob or cooker
  • Moving water or waste pipes
  • Wiring for appliances and lights

If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Materials and parts

  • Birch plywood
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Larders and dressers
  • Islands where space allows
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Spray-painted finish

Caring for painted furniture

New paint needs time to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. Beyond that, these tips help:

  • Think about how you cook and what you store
  • Have damp sorted before fitting
  • Check stairs, hallways and lifts for access
  • Know your appliance sizes early

Hand-painted kitchens are easy to touch up. Spray-painted finishes are smooth and even, and clean easily with a soft cloth. Keep a note of the paint colours.

Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building.

What it’s made from

Doors and drawer fronts

The style of the doors sets the tone of the kitchen, whether plain or framed.

Spray-painted finish

We spray paint in the workshop for a smooth, factory-like finish.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Standard cabinets come in set widths, so most layouts end in a filler panel. Ours are made to fit the room from wall to wall. Standard widths and heights seldom suit an actual room, so it leaves gaps at the ends and empty space above. Built-in pieces fill the space they’re made for.

We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

Why us?

  • Edges scribed to follow your walls
  • A design visit, then a written quote
  • Saturday visits and fitting by prior arrangement
  • Designed for the room you have

How fitting day works

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift as well as the room, so kitchens arrive in sections that fit through. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

  1. You tell us about the kitchen and where it is in your home.
  2. At the design visit we measure the kitchen and the route in, including stairs, doorways and any lift.
  3. We send a written quote.
  4. In our workshop we build the kitchen from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in pieces that suit the route in.
  5. The cabinets are fitted in your home with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish; plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Empty the space we will be working in
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Let us know about parking near your home

Getting a quote

A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you are ready, tell us about the room on our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Advice

Plaistow homes and bespoke kitchens

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Plaistow were built before 1919 (about 40%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 22%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. There are 14 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Plaistow. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. Vans bringing furniture to Plaistow fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. We go through parking and access at the measuring visit.

For a family home near Kaizen Primary School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off. If you live near Keir Hardie Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as St Andrew's Vicarage, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.
