Bespoke kitchens in Canning Town
Many people want a tall larder for food, tins and small appliances. A larder can have shelves, deep drawers and racks, sized to what you keep in them. In an alcove or at the end of a run, it can use space that would otherwise be wasted. If you are living with extra cupboard space and a larder for food and small appliances, that is what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Many homes around Canning Town were built since 2000, and some came with kitchens that suit the building more than the people living in it. A bespoke kitchen can replace the original with cabinets made for your room, with the worktop, sink and appliances you choose. Gas, plumbing and electrics are for the right trades.
We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished.

Kitchens in Canning Town: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Canning Town were built since 2000 (about 38%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 24%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Canning Town, Historic England’s list includes Warehouse K (Grade II), under half a mile south, and Warehouse W (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can need listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. Fewer homes around Canning Town date from before 1919 than across Newham: about 14%, against about 37%, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We check what the walls are made of during the design visit, as they vary with the age of the home.
For a flat near Custom House station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. The wider area includes historic houses such as Queen's House, about 2.7 miles south-west. If your own home is a period one, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. Close to Keir Hardie Park? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Canning Town
How do you fit bespoke kitchens in a flat in Canning Town?
At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. Kitchens are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Canning Town?
Yes, Canning Town is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Newham and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you get in touch, and we will see what we can do.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, though we like to go over the furniture with you at the end.
What does a bespoke kitchen cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Size, layout and finish all affect the price. For a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.
Can I send photos before the visit?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Pricing bespoke kitchens in Canning Town
Not every room costs the same, for these reasons:
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Parking and unloading on your street
- How many doors and drawers there are
- How big the furniture is
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing, naming the materials and finish. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
What we need to know
To give us a picture of the room, it helps to include:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Approximate measurements of the space
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
- Examples of the look you are after
It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space, particularly with rough sizes. To share them, drop us a line using the contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
The real difference is in the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
How fitting works for bespoke kitchens
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Newer developments sometimes have their own parking and loading rules, so let us know what applies during the design visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You get in touch and describe the kitchen you want.
- At the design visit we plan the kitchen and talk about colours and finish.
- A quote in writing follows, with the finish agreed.
- The cabinets are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, and a spray finish is applied there for a smooth, even surface.
- The kitchen is fitted and scribed to the walls, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Treat new paint gently while it cures; the plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your own plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
How to prepare
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
Getting a quote
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it. For a quote, message us from the contact page.
Advice
Flats, conversions and lettings
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations. We cannot advise on your lease.
What we do not do
Not everything around bespoke kitchens is carpentry, from an electrician to a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here’s what to know:
- Any work on the gas supply
- Building work, such as removing walls
- Plumbing, which is for your plumber
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.
