How we price bespoke kitchens
When we put a quote together, we consider:
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- How square the room is
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
What we need to know
Ahead of the design visit, we’ll normally ask about:
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Your postcode and the borough
- What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form.
Bespoke kitchens in Plashet
We make kitchens to fit the room, not a catalogue of set sizes. Each cabinet is made to the real measurements of your walls, floor and ceiling, so the runs fit neatly from wall to wall. You decide the layout, the storage and the colour with us, and the kitchen is made at our workshop before it is fitted. Most enquiries start with open shelves with cupboards below and a kitchen that fits an uneven room, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Older homes usually have generous ceiling heights, and a large share of the homes around Plashet date from then. That suits tall larder cupboards and wall cabinets taken up to the ceiling. Moisture-resistant MDF suits a kitchen, and the paint finish is agreed in your quote.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Questions we’re often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Plashet?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Woodgrange Park station?
Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
How much time does fitting need?
Every kitchen is different. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Just mention it when you contact us, and we will see what we can do.
What does a bespoke kitchen cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
Do I need permission in a conservation area?
Not usually. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and furniture inside a house does not normally need it. In a listed building, check with the council’s conservation officer before any work.
When you need someone else
We make and fit furniture, and we do not do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:
- Structural changes to the room
- Painting the walls around the kitchen
- Connecting sinks, taps and dishwashers
If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room. Our process from visit to fitting.
What goes into it
- Birch plywood
- Hand-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Larders and dressers
- Islands where space allows
- Spray-painted finish
Why bespoke in Plashet?
Standard cabinets come in set widths, so most layouts end in a filler panel. Bespoke cabinets are made to the room’s real sizes, so the runs can fill the space properly. Chimney breasts in older houses stand out by different amounts, so the recesses either side are rarely the same, which means a matching pair of ready-made units seldom fits both. Fitted furniture is made to each one separately.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking during the design visit.

What happens on fitting day
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and how you cook. It’s useful to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
- We come to measure up and plan the layout with you, including where the sink and appliances will go.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are built in our workshop.
- The kitchen is fitted in your home, and your plumber, electrician and an engineer on the Gas Safe Register do the plumbing, electrics and gas. We do not arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.
Before we arrive
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
Starting with a design visit
Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. When you’re ready, drop us a line using the contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Plashet homes and bespoke kitchens
In the area around Plashet, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 71%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 13%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Within a mile of the centre of Plashet, 4 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. TfL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every part of London, Newham included. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Plashet. Parking and access are planned at the design visit.
If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Passmore Edwards Library, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent. If you live near West Ham Park, a cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen. For families living near Plashet School, a kitchen with a spot for school letters and lunch boxes makes mornings easier.
