What affects the price in Agar Town

Prices vary from room to room, and it comes down to:

  • Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • How square the room is
  • The width and height of the space

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Getting in touch

Getting some details early makes the visit more useful. Where you can, include:

  • How you want to use the space
  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth

The design visit is where every quote starts. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A written quote follows the visit, so you can take your time with it. To book one, fill in our short enquiry form.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Agar Town

In older bedrooms, the chimney breast alcoves are often the obvious place for clothes. A pair of alcove wardrobes keeps the chimney breast as a feature, scribed to follow the uneven walls. Picture rails and cornices can be met neatly or cut around. Most enquiries start with several odd pieces where one run of storage would do and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

With most households around Agar Town in purpose-built flats, mansion blocks and modern blocks are both possible. In a mansion block, bedrooms often keep their chimney breasts and tall ceilings, while modern flats tend to have plasterboard partitions. Either way, fitted wardrobes are fixed to suit the wall.

The furniture is made at our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

Spray-painted finish

Spraying coats edges and corners evenly. The colour is agreed at the design stage.

Hanging rails

Rails are set at heights that suit your clothes: a high rail for long items and double rails for shorter ones.

Questions from Agar Town

Will a conservation area stop me having fitted wardrobes fitted in Agar Town?

Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, works inside that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Do you make fitted wardrobes for homes in Agar Town?

Yes, Agar Town is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Camden and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

It’s a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.

How is the inside of the wardrobe planned?

It is worked out with you when we measure, starting from the clothes you have. Some shelves can be adjustable so the layout can change.

Who chooses the colour?

You choose it. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

Can wardrobes be fitted on an uneven floor?

It is common, and it is allowed for. We level the wardrobe on a plinth or feet and scribe it to the walls.

Fitting day, step by step

Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Loading near a block of flats can take some planning, so let us know about bays, permits or any loading area at the measuring visit. The sections are assembled in the flat and fixed to suit the walls. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. You get in touch and tell us what you keep in your wardrobes now.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and plan the inside: long hanging, double hanging, shelves and drawers.
  3. The written quote sets out each wardrobe’s inside layout, the doors, the materials and the finish.
  4. The wardrobes are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, ready for the rails, shelves and drawers you chose.
  5. We fit the wardrobes in your home, then put in the rails, shelves and drawers at the heights we agreed.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand

Ask for a quote

A quote begins with some details from you: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Before and after fitting day

Looking after painted furniture is simple with a little care. These habits help most:

  • Work out the split between long and short hanging
  • Check your lease before fixing furniture to walls in a leasehold flat
  • Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
  • List the things that won’t hang, like jumpers and shoes

Doors can settle a little once the wardrobes are filled. Most hinges can be adjusted to bring a door back in line, and sliding doors can be adjusted on their runners.

Avoid drying clothes in the bedroom where you can. A little ventilation in the room helps.

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Agar Town

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Agar Town were built before 1919 (about 36%) and since 2000 (about 24%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. The centre of Agar Town is within about a quarter of a mile of the Regent's Canal Conservation Area. The controls in a conservation area are mostly about the outside of buildings, so furniture fitted inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you are unsure, check with the council before work starts. The Ultra Low Emission Zone has covered all of London since it reached the outer boroughs on 29 August 2023. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Agar Town. We go through parking and access during the design visit.

Near listed buildings like All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, under half a mile west of the centre of Agar Town, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted wardrobes can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent. For families living near Abacus Belsize Primary School, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller.

What prompts fitted wardrobes in Agar Town

For some, it’s about a calmer room. A single run of painted doors looks tidier than mixed furniture and keeps everything out of sight.

Here’s what fitted wardrobes can help with:

  • Clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms
  • Standard wardrobes that do not fill the wall
  • Too little room for clothes
  • No space in front for doors to swing

For a flat near Camden Road station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.

What to check before you book

  • How doors and drawers are fitted
  • How the furniture will be finished, and where
  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
