Seven Dials Fitted Wardrobes
We make fitted wardrobes for homes in Seven Dials, designed around the room you have. We design your fitted wardrobe at a visit to your home, make it in our workshop and fit it.
- Too little room for clothes
- Musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall
- Mismatched bedroom furniture
Fitted wardrobes in Seven Dials
Practical tips
Because fitted furniture stays put, a little upkeep goes a long way. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Think about whether hinged doors will clear the bed
- Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
- In a leasehold flat, read the lease first
- Let us know about any damp you have seen on bedroom walls
Doors can settle a little once the wardrobes are filled. Hinges can usually be adjusted to line the doors up again, and sliding doors can be reset on their track.
Now and then, check that handles and hinges are tight.
Fitted wardrobes in Seven Dials: what you get
An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, and a wardrobe packed against one can trap moist air. We allow for ventilation behind and within wardrobes on external walls to help avoid condensation and mould. We use moisture-resistant MDF, which suits that position. If your home has gaps above and around standalone wardrobes and damp or musty clothes against an external wall, fitted wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted can solve it.
Older bedrooms normally have generous ceiling heights, and a large share of the homes around Seven Dials date from then. That height can be used, with fitted furniture taken up to the cornice and top cupboards for occasional things. Picture rails, skirting boards and coving are met neatly or cut around.
A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the fitted wardrobe designed for your room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

When you need someone else
It is worth being clear about where our work stops:
- Taking out a chimney breast to make space
- Electrical work, such as moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician
- Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
If in doubt, you can drop us a line using the contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it during the design visit.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind.
Fitted wardrobes for homes in Seven Dials
In the neighbourhood around Seven Dials, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 49%) and the years since 2000 (about 21%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Seven Dials is partly covered by the Seven Dials (Covent Garden) Conservation Area, one of the conservation areas recorded by Historic England. The controls in a conservation area are mostly about the outside of buildings, so furniture fitted inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you’re unsure, check with the council before work starts. Purpose-built flats are home to about 78% of households in the neighbourhood around Seven Dials, according to Census 2021. For a flat, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.
If your children go to St Josephs Catholic Primary School or a school nearby, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else. Close to St Anne's Churchyard? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they will not shade the window. Near listed buildings like Church of St Giles in the Fields, less than half a mile north-west of the centre of Seven Dials, older homes may keep original joinery that fitted wardrobes can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

How it’s made
Moisture-resistant MDF
Wardrobe doors are large, so stability matters. MDF stays flat and gives a smooth surface for painting, whether the doors are plain or panelled.
Doors and drawer fronts
Doors can be plain, panelled or shaped to suit the room. You choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the room.
Common questions about fitted wardrobes
Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in Seven Dials?
Yes. Seven Dials is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Camden and London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Seven Dials?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Is it possible to have storage over the bed?
Yes. Building around the bed uses a wall that often goes unused, with wardrobes at the sides and cupboards overhead. The bed size and room are measured when we visit.
Is it possible to build wardrobes into a loft room with a slope?
Yes. Sloping ceilings are common in loft conversions, and fitted wardrobes are one of the best ways to use them. We measure the slope carefully at the design visit and scribe the wardrobe to it.
Hinged or sliding doors: which suits my bedroom?
It depends on the room. Hinged doors open a whole section at once but need room in front to swing. We will help you weigh them up when we visit.
How do I get a quote?
Simply drop us a line using the contact form. Rough sizes and a few photos help, and then we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design.
From workshop to your room
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Where a period house has been split into flats, the way in often goes through shared parts, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and tell us about the bedroom.
- We visit to measure the room and discuss the design. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
- You receive a written quote setting out the wardrobes, doors and finish, so you can see what’s included.
- Each section is built in our workshop to the room’s measurements, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.
Before we arrive
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
How to get a quote
Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and talk through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.
