Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
Fitted wardrobes for homes in Kennington
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall where the space allows. There is no dusty gap on top and no tricky space at the ends. For a bedroom in Kennington, we start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need. If your home has not enough hanging space and clothes with nowhere proper to go, that is what fitted wardrobes are for, made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Purpose-built flats are home to most households around Kennington, and many blocks have rules about using the lift and when work can happen. Checking with the building’s managing agent early keeps the day running smoothly. A leasehold flat may need consent for fixing to walls, so check your lease first.
Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Bedroom storage in Kennington
Homes built since 2000 make up about 32% of the housing in the area around Kennington, with about 26% built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. There are 131 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Kennington. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and fitted wardrobes can be designed to work around them. Around a third of the homes in the area around Kennington (about 32%) were built since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Newer homes often have compact bedrooms with plasterboard stud walls, so fitted furniture is fixed to suit the board.
If you live in a period home close to Calvary Church of God in Christ, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice. For families living near St Stephen's Church of England Primary School, the inside of fitted wardrobes can be laid out with adjustable shelves, so the space keeps up as children grow. Close to Vauxhall Park? Keeping fitted wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so each section is sized to get through.
Is bespoke worth it?
Walls and floors in older homes are seldom straight or level. Standalone wardrobes may lean or leave uneven gaps against the wall. Ours are levelled on a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the walls. Standalone furniture takes up floor without using the height of the room. Built-in pieces use the full height and the awkward corners, leaving more floor clear.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size is the starting point. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Why choose us
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- Workshop-made and fitted by us
- Edges scribed to follow your walls

Where other trades come in
We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:
- Decorating or plastering the room
- Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can message us from the contact page and we’ll give you a straight answer. How it works.

How fitting works for fitted wardrobes
Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it’s going into, and fitting day is where that happens. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Sections come into the flat in the order they’re fitted, so the flat doesn’t fill up. We protect the floors and keep dust to a minimum. The fixings suit each wall, whether solid or stud.
- It starts when you let us know about the room, the floor it is on and the wardrobes you want.
- At the design visit we plan the wardrobes with you and check the route in, including any lift or tight stair turn. Tell us about parking as well, as a van normally needs a permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension in much of London.
- You receive a written quote for the wardrobes.
- The wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections sized for the route we measured.
- We carry the sections up, join them in the room and scribe them to the walls and ceiling.
Before fitting day
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
Getting a quote
If you already have something in mind, tell us; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.
Related advice
Questions we’re often asked
Is parking a problem for fitting in Kennington?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Vauxhall station?
Yes. We cover all of Lambeth and the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.
How do I get started?
Just drop us a line using the contact form. It is useful to send rough measurements and a few pictures, and we will arrange a design visit, followed by a written quote.
Do you do the electrics?
No. Sockets, switches and lighting are for your electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We will design around them.
Do pictures help?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough sizes. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
