What affects the price in Canary Wharf
We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. This is what makes the difference:
- The width and height of the space
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Parking and unloading on your street
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured.
Getting in touch
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. It is useful to include:
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- How you want to use the space
The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing. To arrange the visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
About our fitted home offices in Canary Wharf
Cables are easy to forget and hard to hide later. We design routes through the desk and units for chargers, screens and printers. If you need new sockets, they’re for your electrician, and we plan the furniture around them. We look at the sockets when we visit in Canary Wharf. We make home offices from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about an awkward space with no furniture that fits and no way to put work away.
Many homes around Canary Wharf have been built since 2000, and in newer homes, the second bedroom is often the office as well as the guest room. A desk with shelves and closed storage can share the room with a wall bed or a sofa bed. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so shelves are fixed into the studs or use fixings made for the board.
The furniture is made in our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

Built-in desks and shelving in Canary Wharf
Homes built since 2000 make up about 66% of the housing in the streets around Canary Wharf, with about 16% built between 1973 and 1999, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Within a mile of the centre of Canary Wharf, 14 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. All of London, Tower Hamlets included, is inside the ULEZ. Vans bringing furniture to Canary Wharf fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. We go through parking and access at the design visit.
If you live near Sir John McDougall Gardens, a desk placed to make the most of daylight makes a big difference to a working day. Living in a block of flats near Canary Wharf station? Then the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it.
Canary Wharf is within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, about 2 miles west of Whitechapel. What prompts fitted home offices in Canary Wharf
Many spare rooms need to work as an office and a guest room. A built-in desk and storage can leave space for a bed. It makes the most of a room that is only sometimes used for guests.
Most of the enquiries we get are about things like these:
- No way to put work away
- A desk buried under papers
- A screen that is hard to read by the window
- A spare room that has to be an office and a guest room
If you live in a period home close to St Peter's Church, a small back bedroom can become a home office with a desk under the window.

What fitted home offices can’t fix
Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work aren’t part of what we do. There are a few other points to bear in mind:
- New sockets, data points or wiring, which are for your electrician
- Painting the walls and ceiling
- Installing IT equipment or broadband
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Your questions about fitted home offices in Canary Wharf
Is parking a problem for fitting in Canary Wharf?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
I live near Canary Wharf station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Tower Hamlets and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can use our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can you fit a desk under a sloping ceiling?
Yes, in a converted loft room. Headroom is the main thing to plan around, so the desk sits where you can stand up. Shelving and cupboards can fill the lower space under the slope.
Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough measurements. You can send them when you use our contact form.
Is it possible to have an office and a guest bed in one room?
It depends on the size of the room. An office on one wall often leaves room for a bed. We’ll look at the options at the measuring visit.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Practical tips
Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:
- Mention any parking rules on your street
- Note the position of sockets in the room
- Think about glare on your screen
- Choose a calm colour for a working room
Load shelves evenly, with heavier books and files at the ends near the supports. It helps shelves stay straight. The shelves are made for what you said you’d keep on them.
Don’t overload shelves beyond what they were designed for. We size shelves for what you told us they’d carry. Spread heavy books and files evenly.
Fitting day, step by step
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so tell us what applies at the design visit. The furniture comes in sections and is fixed in place. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and let us know about the work you do and the equipment you use.

Getting a quote

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
