Parsons Green Fitted Home Offices

In Parsons Green, we design fitted home offices around the room you actually have. Your home office is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • An awkward space with no furniture that fits
  • Wires with no tidy route
  • Work things on show in the evening

Fitted home offices in Parsons Green

Light matters in a home office. A screen facing a window can be hard to read, and a window behind you can cause glare. We’ll suggest where the desk should go to make the most of daylight without glare. It is one of the first things we look at in Parsons Green. Most enquiries start with a corner too odd for a standard desk and wanting to close the door on work at the end of the day; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

In streets where many homes were built before 1919, as they were around Parsons Green, the spare room in a period house is often small, with a sash window and a chimney breast. Home offices can make that room work, with the desk under the window or across an alcove. Cable routes are planned so they run neatly to the sockets, and any new sockets are for your electrician.

The furniture is made at our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

What fitted home offices cannot fix

Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work are not part of what we do. Please bear these in mind too:

  • Any wiring or new lights, which need an electrician
  • Installing IT equipment or broadband
  • Converting a loft to make room for an office

If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room. How it works.

Questions we are often asked

My home in Parsons Green is a period house with walls that aren’t straight. Is that a problem?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

Does a conservation area in or near Parsons Green affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.

Do you cover Parsons Green?

Yes, we do. We design and make fitted home offices for homes in Parsons Green, and the process is the same everywhere we go.

Can landlords use you for a rented flat?

Yes. We make and fit furniture for landlords furnishing a let as well as for householders. We’ll need access agreed with any tenants.

What finishes do you offer?

You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.

Do you work outside London?

No. We cover London only: all 32 boroughs and the City of London.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, and that’s best sorted before fitting day. We cannot advise on your lease.

Many London terraces have been converted into flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it, after measuring the route at the design visit.

Parsons Green homes and fitted home offices

About 60% of the homes in the streets around Parsons Green went up before 1919, and about 18% since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Near the centre of Parsons Green, Historic England’s list includes Hurlingham House (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south, and Gasholder No 2 (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles north-east. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for instance removing original joinery or fixing into it, can need listed building consent from the council. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. About 26% of households in the area around Parsons Green live in flats in converted or shared houses, the 2021 Census shows. Conversions often leave rooms in unusual shapes, with partition walls, boxed-in pipes and chimney breasts in odd places, and the route in may go through a shared hall and stairs. If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before anything is fixed to the walls.

Fulham Palace, about 0.8 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a small back bedroom can become a home office with a desk under the window. Living in a block of flats near Imperial Wharf station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. If your home is one of the older houses near St Dionis, an alcove beside the chimney breast is often just right for a built-in desk.

Fitting day, step by step

However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall, until the line is tight. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Terraced streets in London are often lined with parked cars, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. The van is unloaded quickly, with the sections carried straight in. Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You get in touch and describe the space you want to work in.
  2. At the design visit we measure up and plan a desk and storage that follow the shape of the room.
  3. Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. In our workshop the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
  5. We fit the office in your home, trimming the edges to follow the walls and ceiling.
  6. Your spray-painted or hand-painted finish completes the office.

Preparing the room

  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to

How to get a quote

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, send us a few details through our contact form.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Off-the-shelf cupboards come in fixed sizes, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Furniture we make is built to the room’s own sizes, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.

Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

How it is made

Doors and drawer fronts

A desk can sit behind doors, out of sight when you’re done. It suits a room that also has to work as a guest room or living room. We will talk through the options at the measuring visit.

Pull-out drawers

Drawers can form a pedestal under the desk. The middle stays open for your knees and chair. The design visit settles the layout.
