Our fitted home offices across Hammersmith and Fulham
An alcove beside a chimney breast can take a neat desk with shelves above. The desk and shelves are scribed to the alcove, as period walls are seldom flat. The opposite alcove can carry shelves or a cupboard to match. It makes a working corner that suits the room, in Hammersmith and Fulham or anywhere else. Typical reasons to get in touch are a corner too odd for a standard desk and cables trailing across the desk and floor, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
You’re welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made at the measuring visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving the room tidy. The time the fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.
- You tell us how you work and where you’d like the office.
- At the design visit, the room is measured and the layout planned.
- We agree the desk, shelving and storage, and send a written quote.
- Every part is built in our workshop, ready for a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
- We fit it in your home and check every drawer and door with you. The cable routes are left ready to use.
How our quotes work
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We’ll talk through what you need inside at the design visit.

Arranging a design visit
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. The design is talked through at the visit, once we have measured, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

Built-in desks and shelving across Hammersmith and Fulham
Across Hammersmith and Fulham, from Fulham, Parsons Green and Walham Green outwards, we design and fit fitted home offices. A desk behind doors suits a room that has to do two things. Long shelves are sized so they don’t sag under files and books.
The biggest shares of homes in Hammersmith and Fulham were built before 1919 (about 56%) and since 2000 (about 16%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. More than half of the homes in Hammersmith and Fulham (about 56%) were built before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Houses of that age often have alcoves beside a chimney breast that can take a desk, with shelving above. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 26% of households in Hammersmith and Fulham, going by Census 2021 figures from the ONS. In a converted house, rooms can be odd shapes, with new partitions meeting old walls, and the way in often goes up shared stairs. A lease can require consent for alterations, so it’s worth checking yours first.
Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs, and depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.
Fulham: If you live in a period home close to St. Peter's Church, an alcove beside the chimney breast is often just right for a built-in desk. Living in a block of flats near West Brompton station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.
Flats, leases and landlords
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Let us know about it when you contact us.
If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Bespoke furniture lets the desk, shelves and cupboards be planned together. Ready-made pieces bought separately rarely line up. A single design gives the room clean, consistent lines.
What to check before you book
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
How we price fitted home offices
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. That depends on:
- How many doors and drawers there are
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- How square the room is
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
What to send when you get in touch
What helps most when you first contact us:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Examples of the look you’re after
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- The type of home and how the room is reached
To get a quote for fitted home offices in Hammersmith and Fulham, tell us about the room on our contact form. Tell us which room it is and roughly what you have in mind. Next comes a design visit, followed by a written quote.
Do you need fitted home offices?
Paperwork and files often have nowhere to go. Purpose-made storage gives files, books and stationery a home. It keeps the work surface clear.
People usually get in touch with us about things like these:
- Files and folders piling up
- Shelving that bows under the load
- Glare from a window on the screen
- Work things on show in the evening
What it is made from
Moisture-resistant MDF
We use moisture-resistant MDF because it is stable and gives a smooth surface for paint. It is used for the doors, fronts and side panels, where a smooth, even finish matters.
Doors and drawer fronts
We make the fronts from moisture-resistant MDF and finish them in the colour you choose. Panels can echo the woodwork in an older room. The gaps are kept even all along.
Questions we’re often asked
Where is the furniture made?
It’s built in our workshop, to the design and sizes agreed after the design visit. After that, we fit it in your home.
Should I send photos?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route as well as the room.
Can the spare room be an office and a guest room?
That depends on the space you have. A compact office along one wall can leave the rest of the room for a bed. We’ll look at the options at the measuring visit.
Do you work outside London?
No. Our work is in London only: every London borough and the City of London.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
How long is the fitting for a home office?
How long fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Every part is made in our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
