Loft Storage in Croydon
In Croydon, we design loft storage around the room you actually have. Your eaves cupboard is designed at a visit to your home and made in our workshop.
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
- Furniture that cannot get up to the loft
- Space under the eaves going to waste

Loft storage in Croydon: what you get
Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. The conversion itself is not our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. In Croydon, it all begins with a design visit. Most enquiries start with a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room and wasted space behind the knee walls; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Many homes around Croydon were built since 2000, and in a newer house with a converted loft, the eaves and slopes are worth using. We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. Wherever they go, eaves cupboards are fixed to suit the wall.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Tips worth knowing
People planning loft storage often ask about these. They’re worth knowing whatever the room:
- Find out what’s behind the eaves, from insulation to vents
- Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both
- Empty the eaves so we can see what’s behind
- Make a list of what you want to store in the eaves
We open each door and run each drawer with you before we go. Any access to the eaves is checked so it still opens. You will know it all works as it should.
Avoid overloading drawers so they keep running smoothly. It is useful to clear out now and then. Keep the heaviest things near the floor.
What happens on fitting day
At the end, we tidy up. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so fixings go into the studs or use fixings made for the board. Floors are protected throughout, as many newer homes have finished floors that mark easily.

Pricing loft storage in Croydon
What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. The main factors are:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Parking near your home
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- Doors and drawers, and how many
Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Before the design visit
A few details help us understand the job before we visit. It is useful to include:
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Your postcode and the borough
It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, particularly with rough sizes. To share them, tell us about the room on our contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.
FAQs: loft storage in Croydon
Do you make loft storage for homes in Croydon?
Yes. We cover the whole of London, all 32 boroughs and the City of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and discuss the design, followed by a quote.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Croydon?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. We are carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can allow for cable routes in the design, and new sockets should be in place before fitting day.
Can you build a wardrobe under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Bespoke wardrobes are made to the angle of the ceiling. Hanging goes where there’s height, with shelves where it is low. It is scribed to the slope and walls.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It needs a little planning: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
How long will the loft storage fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Because everything is made in our workshop, the work in your home is the fitting itself. We keep the route up to the loft as clear as possible.
Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?
A ready-made cupboard pushed into the eaves can block airflow. Bespoke storage is designed so it does not block ventilation or squash insulation. That is important for the health of the loft. Big standalone units can dominate a compact room, whereas fitted pieces painted to suit the walls sit back into the space.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. Let us know about parking at the design visit, so it can be planned.

Making use of awkward spaces in Croydon
About 36% of the homes in the area around Croydon went up since 2000, and about 28% before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Croydon include Old Palace Croydon: Great Hall (Grade I), about 0.5 miles north-west, and Old Palace Croydon: Chapel (Grade I), about 0.5 miles north-west. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can require listed building consent. Ask the council’s conservation officer before anything is fixed. Newer homes are more common around Croydon than across the rest of London: about 36% date from 2000 onwards, against about 15%, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.
If your children go to Heathfield Academy or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. If you live near Park Hill Recreation Ground, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Is it time for loft storage?
Most people get in touch because the eaves are going to waste. The low spaces at the edge of a loft room are hard to use. Cupboards and drawers built into the knee wall put it to work.
Here are some of the needs we’re asked about most:
- Low eaves that nobody can use
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- Furniture that can’t get up to the loft
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
Addington Palace, about 2.5 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.
