Bespoke kitchens in London Docklands
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. Knowing the appliance sizes early lets us leave the right spaces, so everything fits as it should. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are a kitchen for a room that isn’t square and a larder for food and small appliances.
Many homes around London Docklands were built since 2000, and a newer home’s original kitchen may not suit how you cook and live. Cabinets made for your room can take its place, built around your chosen worktop, sink and appliances. Other trades handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.
Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, all taken from the design visit.

Is bespoke worth it?
Ready-made units are made to fixed sizes, so the room has to fit the units. Ours are made to fit the room, so the runs can fill the space properly. Large off-the-shelf pieces can make a small room feel smaller, while fitted furniture, painted in a colour that suits the walls, reads as part of the room.
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Practical tips
Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:
- Check there’s room around an island before planning one
- Have damp sorted before fitting
- Make a note of what you use every day
- Measure the route into the kitchen
New paintwork takes a while to harden after fitting. Go easy on the painted surfaces at first, and wipe them with a soft, damp cloth. In time, mild soapy water and a soft cloth keep them clean.
Damp walls should be dealt with before cabinets are fitted. Cabinets against a damp wall can trap moisture, particularly on external walls.
Do you need bespoke kitchens in London Docklands?
A painted kitchen can be refreshed later, which suits a long-term home. Hand painting is simple to touch in or refresh later on.
These come up often when people first get in touch:
- A kitchen island with room around it
- Spray-painted or hand-painted cabinets
- Room for everything in the kitchen
- A layout for a small or awkward room
Queen's House, about 1.8 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
Before you choose who makes it
- Real projects you can actually look at
- How they deal with uneven walls and floors
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
How fitting day works
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a newer home, floors, walls and door frames are often freshly finished, so we protect the route before carrying anything in. Door frames and corners get covers too. The sections are assembled in the room.
- First, you tell us about the room.
- The design visit covers measuring and planning the layout.
- A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
- Everything is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.
Preparing the room
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
How to get a quote
To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. From there, we arrange a design visit to measure up and talk through your ideas, and a quote in writing follows.
Related advice
Your questions about bespoke kitchens in London Docklands
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do you cover homes near Canary Wharf station?
Yes. We cover all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Tell us when you get in touch if a Saturday suits you best.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
Getting it in is planned during the design visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and the furniture is made in sections sized to get through.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. The paint colour is agreed with you.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Kitchens in London Docklands homes
In the streets around London Docklands, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 70%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 14%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of London Docklands include Church of St Matthias (Grade II*), under half a mile north, and New City College (Grade II), under half a mile north. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Newer homes are more common around London Docklands than across Tower Hamlets: about 70% date from 2000 onwards, against about 45%, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That makes plasterboard stud walls and compact rooms more likely, which shapes the fixings and sizes.
If you live in a period home close to St Peter's Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. Living in a block of flats near Canary Wharf station? Then the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in.

Could you do it yourself?
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture cannot typically do that in an older room.
